59 and 7 stone overweight, inspired by my daughter Wk4 R1

I can’t believe that I actually completed R1 of W4, I honestly did not think I could do it.

I probably run only as fast as some people walk but it is still a run.

My daughter as supported and encouraged me every week because every week I look at the challenge and think I will never be able to do that!

I never thought I would have the stamina to run for 5 minutes. I did struggle but kept going with the thought of being able to tell Abigail (my daughter), I DID IT.

Well it worked and I am so pleased.

So anyone who struggles on R1 W1 like I did, don’t give up, if I can do it you can too.

The photo is me afterwards, I hope it makes you all smile

Good run, and nothing is better than a post run relax. You’re doing really well, some runs are harder than others, and the programme does push you a lot, so some struggles are normal, but all the steps up are doable. You’ll keep amazing yourself run after run. Enjoy the next one

Great job 💪😃👍🏃‍♀️

Loads here in the same boat but no matter. We start where we start 💪. It is an amazing programme and BEST done very slowly! There is absolutely no need to hurry at all. Slow runs build legs👍

Going very slowly buys time, saves puff. You just wait and see. Also less chance of injury.

Do read the pinned programme notes which answer all the FAQ’s. Have fun 🙂👍

A smile of absolute excitement and praise for you Karen! That’s a photo of a woman who’s taking it on and winning!! Go you!! 🤩

Running slower than most people walk is exactly how to do it! Running slow is what builds up great strength and stamina in this programme. So, be pleased about that and carry on doing it.

Keep going, theres more of that great feeling to come! Love the pink top and coordinating leggings! You mean business! Go get it Karen!! We’re all behind you!! 👊🏽😍😍😍❤️

Wow! Well done! I did W4r2 today and at 3 stone overweight was thinking how much easier I’ll find running when I shift some of the excess! Keep at it! 💪🏼

Hi Karen. You're doing amazing. I've got so much admiration for you. Don't worry about how slow you are running as they say you're faster than everyone sat on the couch. I'm getting ready to go for wk4r3 so not far ahead of you but I take 2 rest days between runs so you may overtake me soon. Look forward to following your progress

Well done!

I'm on w6 now and for 6 weeks I've been trying to get my mum to do it. Sadly she's still in the stage of coming up with excuses why she can't do it rather than just getting on with it.

I really applaud you for sticking with it, well done, I'm sure your daughter is very proud of you!

You are doing brilliantly. 9 weeks ago I started this programme a complete couch potato, overweight and very unfit. I never expected to keep to it but it's so clever the way it gently draws you in and now today I have just done wk 9 run 1 - 30 minutes and I am so pleased. I have a bad lower back, compressed vertebrates, and have suffered so much pain over the last few years. So many people said I shouldn't try running, too severe but the programme is so gradual I haven't

Experienced a single injury or twinge and my back is tons better. I feel light in my step and whereas I used to have this feeling of sluggishness always , like my legs were made of lead, I don't feel like that now. Please believe in yourself and in the power of this programme to make a great change in your life in how you feel and how you look. Don't read ahead to the nest weeks runs until you have finished your week. You will get there although believe me you will question how many times, but push through the doubts and the I can't carry on feelings and little but little you will suddenly find yourself at week 9 . You CAN do it xxx

I am also at the same stage as you with Week 4 Run 2 scheduled for tomorrow morning. Keep going - we can do this and graduate in time for Christmas, then start 2019 as full fledged runners.

Same here I did it this morning in the rain and actually found it a bit easier, I hope me saying that hasn’t put a jinx on my next one.

Well done to us

Well done, I did W4R3 this morning it was lovely weather for me. Legs are a bit achey tonight tho. Starting week 5 on Friday or Saturday depending on work.

Week 4 Run 3 also complete now....a bit of a miserable run in the dark on unlit rural roads (hi vis on!) because I usually run in the forest with the dogs and the scenery makes it more enjoyable. How are you doing?

Hi, just finished R1 week 5, I found it hard but somehow managed it, I actually ventured out of the garden today, like you it is unlit rural roads but was getting light so not to bad.

🤩, yes it did make me smile, but I'm sure many of us also couldn't believe that we completed runs, I certainly couldn't.

Then before you know it, it's got you, and you start buying leggings and tops and trainers....

Well done, and keep us posted 🤩
