Despite some brilliant advice on here and lots of positive stories, I still approached this run with some trepidation. As a complete non runner 5 weeks ago and someone who struggled with the 60 second runs at the beginning, the thoughts of running for a full 20 minutes when my last run was only 2 x 8 minutes with a walking break meant it still felt like a huge ask. But, having read so many posts, I knew that it was more a mental challenge than a physical one as the program was designed to get us to this point.
With that in mind I made a special play-list with songs that matched my pace and set off for the gym yesterday morning. I still felt apprehensive during the 5 minute walk but once Laura gave me the countdown I set the treadmill to 8.5kph / 5.3mph and went for it. I was surprised when she said I already had 5 minutes done and once I got to 10 minutes I knew I'd do the rest. I felt elated and proud of my achievement and I wanted to share this and say to anyone struggling with any part of the program to just believe in yourself, you can do it.
Looking forward to week 6 and beyond
