What to eat and when

Hi everyone I WAS going to write that I'm going out on my second run today and am terrified! BUT having read the blurb on the 'dreaded wk5' and how you perceive things affects performance, I'm going to rephrase this and say I'm going out today on wk1r2 and its going to be fab! Anyway, the point of my post was to ask advice on what to eat and when to get the best out of a run? Should I be eating an hour before I go and what's best to eat? Tia for your help.

Enjoy your second run today. I guess eating depends on when you run. I run in the morning so just get up and go out, nothing to eat first.

What do you eat after you've run?

At this stage of the game you are burning very few calories so don’t need to eat anything extra. If you do eat, you should probably wait for a couple of hours before the run.

I generally run in the morning, 2 hours after a bowl of banana and porridge, if I have to postpone till the afternoon I usually have a small amount of soup, maybe some fruit, and wait a couple of hours. Occasionally run on an empty stomach fiirst thing if I know I won't get time to wait.

Good for you, enjoy your runs, week 5 is NOT to be dreaded😊especially the third run, trust the program and you will be fine, in fact most people who have completed week 5 run 3 are so pleased that you would have thought that they had graduated, I repeat, that run is not to be dreaded 😊 🏃.

What works for me is some water and a banana 1 hour before I run don't know why but it works🤗🤗

If you have a healthy eating regime every day.. nothing extra is needed.. i have always gone out on to digestive light bikkies and a cup of tea... I run early. About 45 mins to an hour before i run.. and a sip of water before I head out:)

Week 5 is a delight not a dread.. anticipation, not apprehension... it has got a bad name..undeserved. You do the runs because you are ready for them :)

I didn't have an eating regime for c25k other than to be well hydrated. Now that is crucial.

Week 5 is a joy. I've just done wk5r2 twice because I got such a buzz from it.

It really feels like I'm a runner now 😀
