It's just your body adjusting to your new exercise regime, hopefully the pain will not be so much as you get through the program, I suppose that any sort of exercise will have some sort of pain, I am sure a marathon runner feels some sense of pain after running for 26 miles.

Absolutely not. Are you wearing proper running shoes? Does the pain subside when you stop -if not let yourself recover fully before you run again. You could also try wearing compression running tights, which some people find helpful. And do some stretching before and after, I think theres a post somewhere on about stretches, hope someone can give you a link.

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

Reduce the impact, primarily by slowing down, there are other options in the guide.

It is fairly normal to have aches and pains, but if they are extreme, they need investigation. Running stresses can highlight underlying conditions.

We also have to assess your use of hyperbole before we can give more accurate diagnosis.

Enjoy your journey.

Welcome Sprouticus - loving the name ! You’re not a closet Lazytown fan, are you ? I’m very overweight myself and I know how you feel. Most people attack run 1:1 and it’s sensible to do that because it sets your baseline and shows you where your fitness is really at ! You’ll have less pain if you’re a bit kinder to yourself. Slow down a little. You’re here for the long haul and you need to embrace your inner snail, as they say around here ! There’s a lot of good info on stretches in the forum, which is helpful. Also, if you’re currently running on hard surfaces such as tarmac or paving, see if you can get onto something softer for at least some of your route. Hope you find some relief soon. Happy running 😀
