I think I might be obsessed

Running - it’s pretty much my only topic of conversation, the only thing I think about....I’m constantly reading about it, researching what to do after C25K, looking at Lycra.....what’s going on?!!!!

So are we, so we can go on about it to our heart’s content when those around us at home might not be interested 😃

My husband is feigning interest at the moment because he’s so thrilled I’m exercising and getting fit and healthy - not sure how long it will last though! I outlined my ongoing plan to him this morning 😂😂😂

My husband’s not remotely interested so I don’t talk about it 🤨. He did take me to Casualty after I fell the other week 😁. He rolled his eyes 👀

Yep, you've been bitten by the running bug 😊

Love it though. I’ve never in my life been interested or excited in any form of exercise- a whole new world has opened up!

You are doing well because I didn't really start enjoying running until after I'd graduated C25K! :)

I think I enjoy the feeling of achievement mire than the actual running at the moment, but it’s coming!

Haha that's exactly what's happened to me and i'm only on w5! I've watched 8 running documentaries in less than a week! 😂😂

Pickles1234 profile image

I’m on week 5 too - this morning so far I’ve watched two videos, been on here, talked to (at!) my husband about future plans and Whatsapped my kids and it’s not even lunchtime 😂😂😂

Lol brilliant! I surely wasn't expecting the euphoria that i'm experiencing! ✌️😊

Me neither - the sense of achievement is so good 😊

A really funny, but short, cheap read is a kindle book called No Run Intended 😂

Same. My poor partner...I don't think he is used to this. He is very sporty and it's strange that it's me saying 'we need to put a wash on, I have no clean sports clothes left'....It is normally him saying that.

It can get you like that! Once you start reading you find yourself getting interested in form and technique, minimalist footwear and barefoot running, diet and more. I've been reading Dr Ruth Heidrich this morning (her story is amazing) and am now contemplating a vegan diet! – she makes a very strong case for it.

Must have a read. I have several running books to work through... I actually became vegetarian a few months ago but think veganism is too much for me personally

Flyingred profile image
FlyingredGraduate in reply toPickles1234

I was vegetarian for about 15 years but gave up as work required me to attend lots of lunches and dinners and I got bored with being the odd one out and having to talk about it . Dr Ruth's big thing is the link between all oils and fats and cardiovascular disease – which and a number of doctors claim can be reversed by cutting out animal products and all oils and fats (including olive oil, coconut oil, etc.). Find her website and there's an ebook download on diet and recipes.

I’ve been reading an interesting book called How Not To Die which comes out strongly in favour of a plant based diet. I like the theory, just not sure I could do it in practice 😊

Flyingred profile image
FlyingredGraduate in reply toPickles1234

Yes, that looks interesting and lots of similar ideas. The How Not to Die Cookbook looks pretty useful too. Looking in the Amazon bestselling nutrition though I found a book called 'The Plant Paradox - Hidden Dangers in Healthy Food that Cause Disease and Weight Gain'. Apparently, lectin, found in seeds, is bad news, so it's out with the brown rice, etc.! Fortunately, I checked the 1* reviews and the author has been discredited for citing research inappropriately! Phew!

There is a lot to be said for it but it’s hellishly restrictive I like to eat from every food group. I don’t eat much meat though

...and like when you become like a fly attracted to uv lamps, you suddenly find yourself interested in dayglo fluorescent colours...

Me too... My partner gives me 'the look' every time (yet another) parcel arrives in the post and it's more running stuff! Who is this person I've become?! I hold C25K responsible! 😁

I’ve always appreciated Lycra 😂 never imagined I’d be buying it for me before though!

Good grief, I thought I'd written this post, lol. I've just shown it to my partner who said "that's bloody you, that is". I had always hated running whilst at school and never attempted it again after leaving school but now.....I am a changed person completely.....and I bloomin' love dressing in my lycra 😂😂😂

😂. I love it too although I look like a beached whale, in my head I look like one of the Strictly dancers when they’re training 😂

I am so glad I am not alone!!!!!! Founds myself looking at Buffs! Didn’t even know that was a word let alone something else I can buy ready for colder runs. I have truly been taken over by a version of myself I never knew existed. Lol

Pickles1234 profile image
Pickles1234 in reply toWimborne

Oh yes, and running socks, wireless headphones, phone armbands, leggings with pockets I. The waistband, water bottles....a whole new world has opened up 😂

And don’t forget head gear. Very fetching head bands to cover ears in winter....
