Thought I’d share this, I’ve found an amazing yoga lady on YouTube...
I’ve started to use her ‘yoga for runners’ as my cool down stretching, some of her videos are about 7mins long, perfect if you don’t have loads of time, but want to stretch.
I love Adriene's videos: she is very graceful. And (probably) a full-time practitioner of yoga, in her twenties and very supple.
On the other hand, we are (mostly) middle-aged, unfit, overweight, quite unstretchy non-practitioners of yoga.
So don't worry if you do not have the same poise, stretchability and capability as you try and copy this workout. Your body will not do the same things as Adriene, so try not to break anything whilst following this video.
Don't get me wrong, stretching is vital, and should be a daily habit like brushing teeth or checking the posts on this forum. Just be realistic about what you can do.
Always take care not to over stetch..... Adriann is a Yogi, you are a runner. I would suggest build slowly and if possible go to a class a few times to ensure you have good technique ,
Thanks for this tip, did my Wk1R3 yesterday and these stretches really helped afterwards. I didn’t get to disheartened when I couldn’t get all the positions!!!
Thanks for the tip! I recently started a yoga class at my local gym, and the teacher was amazing! Unfortunately he has moved and the new teacher is disappointing so I am not so keen anymore. Will give this a go until I find a better class nearby.
I love the Yoga with Adriene videos. There’s something for pretty much everyone there, she’s got videos from 7 minutes to over an hour. She’s really good at being inclusive of regular people who’s bodies don’t stretch in the ways hers does (yet). She is very body positive too.
I have one very tight hip and have always tried too hard to stretch it to match how far I can go on the other side. I love how in many videos she mentions that our sides are not equal and that’s ok!
So glad you’re enjoying them Amandana, sounds as tho you’ve tried a good few more than I have, good to hear she’s so inclusive... hope your hip goes on ok! 😊
Good advice Dreams79. I do some of Adriene’s easier yoga sessions on a couple of mornings a week. I’ve tried going to classes but they always seem to be pitched at a more advanced level. Adriene does a some really good ones for beginners. youtube.com/playlist?list=P...
Hey Ebee54, great to hear you get on so well with her videos! Thanks for sharing the link, I’ll definitely try those! I’m getting really in to doing this yoga lark, it’s really therapeutic & I’m feeling the benefits already 😊👌
