Hi just joined this, I’ve decided to take the plunge and start the C25K this week. 6 weeks ago I gave up smoking started healthy eating and joined the gym. I’ve lost just over a stone (several more to go). I’ll either start this evening or Wednesday. Is there anyone else just started who also needs to loose a lot of weight. Thanks

Hi Shelley, welcome to the friendliest forum ever. There are a whole gang of us with many different issues and struggles, motivations and goals, so everyone’s in the same boat ! Like you, I personally am new to running and heavily overweight. In fact I’m carrying an extra person in fat (I call it Ethel !) You sound like you’re taking on a load of challenges all at once - good for you ! ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Believe in yourself and in the programme, and enjoy the journey x
Welcome Shelly you in the right place. Lots of wonderful & encouraging people here. Like you I also gave up smoking and now enjoy running without coughing up a lung every time I finish 😬. Have a great week.
Welcome Shelley
Great job kicking the habit and also on the weight loss. Those take mental strength to accomplish, and so does this, it’s a lot more mental than physical to be honest, so you’re gonna be just fine. Run slow and steady, there’s no races.
Running may contribute to your continued weight loss, it may not, and it may even slow it for a few weeks as you build some muscle. If you haven’t already done so, take measurements of yourself and use those as well as the scales to see the bigger picture, running should tone you up and that coupled with healthy weight loss is just amazing.
I’d recommend joining Weight Loss NHS on here... they’re really supportive and very very knowledgeable.
Enjoy your journey.
Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your decision.

Enjoy your journey.
Me! I’ve about five stone I’d like to dispose of....and I will. This programme is amazing. I hadn’t run since school days and even then wasn’t a runner. Week 1 Run 1 I could hardly do the five minute warm up and today I completed Week 5 Run 1. I have lost a few pounds but a lot more in inches. The biggest joy is being able to walk so much more and even little things like getting off the sofa are so much easier. I feel young(er) again! You can do it!
