I did W6R2 this morning and managed fine, the first 10 minutes seemed a little tough but I always seem to find the first part of the run harder than the rest... but I completed it!
Next run is 25 minutes and I’m absolutely dreading it! I haven’t dreaded a run this much since my first 5 minute run 😩
I think I’m dreading it so much because I found the first 10 minutes hard today and can’t imagine keeping going for another 15!
Any tips for preparing yourself for a longer harder run?
Also, does anyone else find the first part of a run harder than the last half? I’m not sure if it’s because I struggle to pace myself properly at the beginning until I find my rhythm?
Sorry for the long post 😩😂

Ok... great job so far. It’s interesting that you didn’t fear the 20 minutes... the 25 is no different, the intervals you just did will have prepared your body nicely for it.
A lot of this is in the mind... you call it a longer harder run... it’s longer or if you rephrase it it’s harder... it’s not both! Take it slow and steady, don’t attack it, just go at a comfortable pace and you can do this.
Most, of not all, runners find the first few minutes harder than the rest of a run (experienced runners mention the toxic 10 a lot) and we are no different... it just so happens that we are at the stage where we get though that around the same time that we get to half way, which also gives us a psychological boost, as does 5 minutes to go etc.
What you’re feeling isn’t unusual, you’d be unusual if you weren’t, or going off too fast if you found the second half the hardest.
Relax, trust the plan, believe in yourself and just go run it, slow and steady. You’ll feel a huge sense of achievement at the end.
