The long week ended today! πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ˜€

What a beautiful morning to get back out there after my voluntary week on the IC.

Offending foot was duly dressed in a compression sock, a gel heel insert and a supportive bandage. Probably all placebo, but I’ll take any help I can get! I also have some arch supports, but I chose not to wear those today - they squash my dodgy toe a bit.

So out I went - chilly enough for long leggings, but too warm still for long sleeves - I need to find a slick way to tie my running jacket round my waist. It always looks cumbersome when I do it!

I did a lovely relaxed 4k. Slow at 33 minutes, but that was my aim as I wanted to test my heel/toe. All ok - I had a tightness in my foot, but no pain. I’ll need to make sure I do extra stretches and utilise my swanky foam roller!

I’d love to go to parkrun this Saturday, but I’ll be sensible and give my foot an extra week if I think it needs it. Crikey, I’ve turned into a proper running geek! But a happy one! πŸ˜€πŸ˜€

Hope you guys all have a wonderful week, running and otherwise! ❀️

Great news cheeky😁, it's all about listening to your body, being patient and remembering that run will still be there in a week or so, not that it's easy at all!!

So glad to hear your toe is feeling better but good decision on the parkrun it sounds.

I got some running tights for the cooler days and wore them yesterday, v comfortable but it's a good job I've toned up as they leave nothing to the imagination πŸ˜‚πŸ˜³

Happy running πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

I know what you mean about running tights CH! I had to pop into the supermarket on the way home, and there’s no way I’d have worn running gear in there a few months ago! Now I feel all righteous! πŸ˜…πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ‘

Double whammy 😱toe & PF 😱 Take it easy cheeky & heal (heel) well. Congrats on doing 4K. How on earth did you get your trainers on to do that!!

Yes both! I had a tendency to get plantar fasciitis in my left heel ever since W2, but it’s been manageable and had actually pretty much gone away. I then went and clobbered my left foot doing yoga (I know!) and injured my toe. Again, ok to run on - but I must have changed my gait to compensate and my heel flared up. ☹️

All better now, and I couldn’t wait to get back running. I could have one circuit of the park which is 3.7k, but I prefer round numbers so 4k it had to be! Loving it! πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ˜€

Well done cheeky. πŸ‘You’re right it was a gorgeous morning to run. Like you I’d been itching to get out as I wasn’t well last week and didn’t want to risk making things worse.

So like you I did a slow and steady 4K and feel fantastic now. Can’t believe in a few short months that I can go from not being able to run to being desperate that I can’t get out and run! πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Just shows what a difference this programme makes. Enjoy your running this week πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Spot on Beanjo, and you’re right - whoever would have thought the words β€˜just run a 4k’ would be ever have been in our vocabulary!

Glad you’re feeling better. Isn’t it annoying when things get in the way of our running? πŸ™„πŸ˜€πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Thanks Mike! So relieved. Even though my stay on the IC was short, it felt like forever. A reminder to take care of ourselves, or it might well be. 😳

Great to see your back on the road and all seems ok after you 4kπŸ˜€πŸ‘

Yes, thanks Runsome. No lasting damage. I just need to make sure I stretch more - and do extra safe yoga! πŸ˜€

Good to hear your back on it cheeky! I seem to have fractured my motivation, but I'm forcing myself out in a bit, gonna have a nice slow run and tackle a couple of hills, then a slow run home. I'm also gonna try and get out Wednesday or Thursday, it just depends when I'm working!

Ahh, you need to get out there Jundal. The weather (here at least) is perfect! Go and smash some hills, and imagine how great you’ll feel after! πŸ’ͺπŸƒπŸ’ͺ

Woohoo!

I find I need shoes half a size to a full size bigger with my orthotic insoles, you may find the same with your supportive inserts, as they may move where your foot sits inside the shoe.

Yes, good point. I already wear trainers half a size bigger than usual, but of course the insoles take up more room. Ordinarily they’re fine, but because my toe is still tender I don’t like anything pressing on it. πŸ‘
