Run 6.1 and I disagree with Michael.

Today was nice. Having run 20 mins in run 5.3 I was happy to have walking breaks again. It was tempting to set off fast though (only five mins) but I reined myself in.

I was particularly happy to get through five mins of solid uphill plodding (listening to David Copperfield on Audible) at the end. But I was just a tad miffed when Michael told me to land on my heel. I have focused on keeping my strides short and aiming for a mid foot 🦶 landing with each step (toe landing felt too alien).

Then I was a tad more miffed (miffeder ! Haha) when Michael took an unexpected break because MapMyRun lady was telling me I’d hit two miles.

I am learning what sends Michael away now and will know what to avoid app wise. And before long I will hopefully just pop my book on and go for a run. Still, today it meant an extra 1min30 on my final run.

Off to find my run twins! Who else is on week 6 run 1?

Are you listening to the podcasts or the app. I was always told to land mid foot as you already are so I would dismiss the instructions to land on your heal.

Great run😊😊

Ah yes I’m doing the app. It’s a bit glitchy but I’ll stick with it and continue to ignore that advice!

The heel running advice has changed since the app was released. The advice now is indeed to land midfoot, roll through and spring from the ball. I know some people like landing on the front of the foot. As my friend stress fractured two toes doing that, I tend to avoid it. 😳

Oof!! That’s scary. I did try it and immediately abandoned it so I’m really glad to hear of a good reason not to keep trying but sorry for your friend!

It wasn't nice, but she was running long distances and has now been diagnosed with low bone density, so I wouldn't let it concern you too much. It has stayed with me though.

It was a pleasant surprise after 20 mins last time, wasn’t it?
