W6R3 done and dusted! Wasn't confident I could do it as I found R2 a challenge even though I knew that I had already run for 20 mins. When I look back to W1 I didn't think I would manage 90 secs!! But here I am going into W7. I am 62yr old female and on target for a 10 min mile. My average BPM is 145 spiking to 170 ish - is this normal?? Big thanks to my husband for doing this challenge with me.

Don’t over worry about heart rate, that will put your heart rate up! Unless you undergo a lot of testing the figure you see is only a guidance as your maximum hasn’t been calculated.

You’ve broken the barrier into just running again and now it’s just running all the way. You got this.

That 10 minute mile is probably already there... if you were just to run a mile you could almost certainly do it. Keep on plan though, you’re doing amazingly.

Nice one Meganpippa, that run you completed today is the first of 4/25 minute runs. Week 6 run 3 and week 7 runs 1 2 and 3 are all of 25 minutes duration. I am sure that you will be able to run 10-minute miles by the time you have completed the C25K program, or at least after the 5 or 6 consolidation runs after graduating. I am not in the medical profession but I think that 145 to 170 range of BPM when running is OK, I think there was someone who topped 200 BPM recently here that told us that while running he was a bit concerned, someone replied who knew about BPM that 200 was ok for at least a short time.

Thank for info regarding BPM - I'm not going to stress too much about it. I seem to recover quite quickly. Looking forward to W7.🏃. Appreciate your support.

Just run... enjoy and don't push at all... :) Enjoy the lovely longer runs... let the new running legs find their own happy pace:)
