W5R2 and those hills

Having gone back to W5 to try and rebuild my stamina, also trying doing hills too, I just couldn’t do the 2nd 8 min run without a break. Now I’m going to repeat this run but can’t decide wether to carry on trying the hills or do it on the flat just to complete it. I worry if I do it on the flat I’ll be put off hills completely, if I do the hills and don’t manage it again my running mojo (which is already on a knife edge) will take a hit.

Thoughts? Advice please 🤷‍♀️

Also, an additional whinge, sorry, my lower leg, I can’t say calf or shin as it’s more upper offside (there’s my drivers parlance coming in haha) is been quite painful. I’m fully hydrated, had a gait analysis and have the correct shoes. So again, advice please.

Jeez what a whinging post. So sorry 😐

I’ve found my next place to run and it’s round two artificial lakes... paths are flat as a pancake. I’m looking to hit hills as speed sessions a few weeks post grad and this will be the first time I’ve deliberately factored them in. For me, getting to 30 minutes is enough work right now... once I can do 30 I’ll extend to 5k, then look at some speed work on the hills as the parkrun I will be doing most is far from flat. For now I plan my routes... back to the hill and go!

By offside on the injury are we talking right leg or the outsides of each? Is there any swelling, and joint grating? I’d go and see a physio and have them look at your legs and maybe running.

I think your right re just getting to the 30 mins. I mean that is why I went back to W5 in the first place. So yes, back to the flat for me I think 👍

The pain is right leg, outside. I’m hoping it’s just complaining about the hill running and nothing more serious. If it continues I think I may have to see a physio. Cheers x

Could be worth getting checked... most of my aches and pains are symmetrical.... hopefully all good for your next run though.
