It’s not really week eight due to childcare/weather/bad back, more like 12 weeks, but I did the first run and it’s so close to the end, only five runs left.
Definitely felt I had more in the tank and could up my pace a little, although on track for a respectable 33 minute 5km which I’d be delighted with. I did find it tricky as I don’t time myself so rely on the app to tell me how long it has been, I expected a 20 min alert but instead it was 23 minutes, a nice surprise. Then five minutes to go and expected a one minute alert and the instruction to go faster, I started tailing off and suddenly it was over without a minute warning.
No issues with asthma or my dodgy spine. Running entirely on pavement now, started on grass to reduce impact. I may have a go at run 2 today if I have the time, energy and feel pain free. On Sunday I’m hoping to get the kids on their second park run and get a slow 2km done alongside. I’m planning to do my first (ever) 5km at the same park run in a few weeks.

Slow, steady and well done.. take the rest days..up the core-strength and stamina exercise on rest days too...( although with children you probably get plenty of that )
Thanks. I did fail on the rest day and ran again today. I have to take the chances when I get them! But it was certainly much harder today, although partly as my pace slightly increased. I’m in the gym twice a week (if I’m good) but I do need to improve my stretching, it’s non existent currently.
