Hi everyone, I am in w3 R1, I have to say I love all about this app/forum and experience!!!! But I have a conciern from day 1 and I would love some help. In the beginning of each run I get a very strong pain on the right side of my knee. I start to warm up for longer but nothing is change, is It normal? I am just worried I will have to stop and I don’t want too!!!!!!! Tnx in advance

Does the pain persist throughout the run or does it go away adter a short time?

OK - and is it an actual sharp pain or more of a muscle ache?

I would say more a muscle, tnx for consideration by the way

OK if it’s an ache rather than a sharp pain that’s probably something you can deal with by running at a slower pace, making sure you drink enough water including in rest days, and so on. It may just be your body adjusting to unfamiliar exercise. Remember this programme is about time not distance so you can afford to go as slow as necessary.

Great advise by ArthurJG . Take it slower and maybe think of adding an extra rest day Inbetween to have a little xtra help for your muscles to get used to running. If it persists then just get it checked out with your gp, but most of us had a few juggles as we started. Good luck.

very strong pain on the right side of my knee

You should not be getting any pains that you describe as very strong. We all have aches and pains, tired muscles etc. But there are no muscles in the right side of your knee. Only vital tendons, ligaments and bit and pieces that are critical to living an active life. I recommend getting this checked out, and that (ideally) means seeing a sports physio if you can. I don't think it is going to just get better, even if you run more slowly or spend longer warming up.
