Can’t believe I’ve made it this far. Granted, it was 12-13 weeks ago that I started, with some slightly longer gaps than expected due to work or injury... but I’ve arrived.
Nursing a bit of a niggle with the soleus but sports massage guy is looking after it for me and doing plenty of stretching to keep it from going from niggle to injury. And unfortunately, had to slow the pace from 7 minutes to 8.5 minutes.
Intention is to smash W9R3 at a sub-35 minute time... body willing! The mind is there, the breathing is there, just got to avoid the injury. And all being well, it’ll take place at my first Park Run.
To all those who have graduated... I can’t wait to join you. Running has turned from a chore into an addiction and now I’m where I am, I won’t just give it up. Onwards and upwards!
To those just starting out, or finding it hard... keep at it. Keep finding the time. Keep putting the trainers on. Keep going out of the door. It soon becomes a habit. It soon becomes addictive. You will improve, you will progress, you will get fitter, you will enjoy it. And frankly, you’ll be able to stick two fingers up to those who said you can’t, those who you think are sniggering at you, those who can’t be bothered to do the same as you. Don’t stop.
