Finally hit 5k!

So, 4 weeks after graduation I have been building up from 3k to 5k and finally hit it over the weekend... Twice! 36 mins so room for improvement but so pleased. My advice to others is stick at it... It felt to good and feel ready now for local park run. First 2k is still hard and feel like giving up but keep going and actually enjoy the end, especially that sudden burst of energy at the end!

Well done zog! Isn’t it an amazing feeling? A real landmark! 😀

I’ve done 2 so far and I’m embarking on my first parkrun this coming weekend! 👏👏👏👏

Fantastic! Well done zog3! I’m about 3 weeks after graduation but still nowhere near hitting 5k. Still only managing 4.3k and that’s including 5 min warm up and cool down so still a long way to go for me but go you!! 👍🏻

Well done - and that's a perfectly acceptable time.

So pleased to read this, I graduated last Friday but I am repeating W9 until I get to 5K, which I don’t think will be any time soon. I have set my sights on a 5K fun run in November with my daughter. I have to admit to being disappointed that I am only covering just over 3K at this stage and the prospect of going over half again seems almost impossible. However, I am enjoying the post run euphoria and the small changes I am noticing in me 😉

Keep at it. One day you will get past the 3k and feel you can keep going. Set small goals like run an extra 3 mins,or run 0.5k extra as and when feel you can. These small steps will make a big difference over time.
