I literally never stick to any exercise. I’ve tried it all... swimming, Zumba, treadmills, aerobics. The list could go on.
I never thought running would be the thing I might actually enjoy! I started the program after reading Bryony Gordon’s “Eat, drink, run” which is about Bryony’s journey to running the London marathon to raise money for Heads Together. Highly recommend this book for someone who needs some extra inspiration.. Bryony is very relatable and does great work for mental health.
I actually can’t believe I’ve just completed Week 2 Run 1... in the rain. I really hope I’ll stick to the program because so far it is brilliant. I will openly admit at the halfway point, I can’t stand running and I feel like my heads gonna fall off 😂However, the small moments of enjoyment and mental clarity I’m getting after that halfway point is pushing me to keep going! Also this forum is great, reading about everyone else’s journey is really helpful inspiration Fingers crossed this is the one I stick to 🤞🏻.

Woo! Well done for completing the run and that in the rain. I'm so glad you found something that you can see yourself enjoying. I haven't been able to stick to exercise for long either. I just finished week 1 - I totally relate to the half way blues and mental clarity after. Thanks for the book suggestion, I might give it a go. Good luck for run 2!
Nice going! One thing that really helps you to keep going is coming back here regularly and updating everyone with your progress. Feedback is important with any long task, and that's what this forum is for. Good luck 😀👍👏
This forum kept me going for a long time in my long running journey with many pauses and come backs. This or probably next week, I will do my comeback once again hoping that this time my health and life allow me to finish the program.
The greatest thing I've learnt on this forum is that the program is just an aid, the journey is everything. Just going out there and doing your best.
Happy running! Hope you will stick with it.
PS. I understand and relate to trying many things and not being able to stick with it.
Dear IgaT, really like what you say about the programme just being an aid while the journey is everything! Have got so much from this forum. Just finished W2R3 this morning - W3 looks quite a jump! I have a mixture of fear and excitement about it... will enjoy my rest days 😊
Fear and excitement is perfect combination, as they say it is when magic of pushing your borders and growth happen.
Enjoy the rest days! And if you need one extra day of being lazy, just to enjoy the next run more, by all means take it and savor it. I you need to repeat the run, well just repeat it
Well you’ve already completed the first week and part of the second, so well done on that 👍👏.
Hopefully this will be the thing you stick at- apart from the positives you’ve already recognised, the other great thing is that the programme builds up your strength, stamina and confidence gradually- and it’s different every week so it’s not like going to the same class all the time.
