Dunno what’s holding you back If you can graduate on a treadmill you can achieve anything πŸ˜ƒπŸ‘πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Get outside. It’s where it’s at πŸ’ͺπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ˜ƒ. It's where i’m going right now πŸ”₯

It's a different experience. Not harder, just different. You're a runner now. You can do this.

C'mon. Just that first step... xx

Oh, you are in for a treat! Running outdoors is lovely. So many distractions the time just flys by! Do you have a nice park/somewhere green to run? Plan a route before going out. As people have mentioned, it can feel very different to treadmill running, but what I love is how easy it is to change your pace. Take it slow and enjoy the scenery and fresh air.

If you are nervous maybe start out with a 15 minute route. That’s a good start.

Well done you! I'm on the beginning of my journey and have been taking my hubby with me for moral support...he is going into hospital for an operation next week so I am feeling a bit anxious going out on my own also. This may sound mad...but I have decided to do the first run on a single track road where hopefully there won't be much passing traffic or people! I've thought through some of my 'fears' and worst case scenarios and now have the mind set...so what, I'm doing this for me and although some may find an overweight middle age women with a red face amusing, for the first time I am doing this for me and taking control of my life and health :-)

There are lots of us middle aged women strutting our stuff. I smile and say 'good morning' and have never had a negative experience. Some people struggle to crack their faces, but that's their problem. Don't be scared, head up, shoulders back and off you trot!

I totally agree! I stopped caring being seen after 2 runs. It is about us, noone else! It's funny how unused to greeting people are. And sometimes you.see the most amazing smiles from stern faces. That is a victory and makes my day!

Thank you! It's great to know there are others out there who feel the same. I'm not really a one for social networks and only logged on to see if there was anyone else who might be feeling the same as me(!) ...I can't believe how supportive members are, it really makes me feel determined to do this...thanks to everyone out there for the words of encouragement :-)

If you like running on the treadmill, you will LOVE running outdoors, a million times better! Don't feel anxious, no one will give you a second glance, and if they do it will be a look of admiration :)

I would decide a route in advance and get some upbeat music to listen to and you will love it. The great thing about the music is it puts you in your own bubble and blocks out everything around you. Go for it you can do it xx

I’m also a treadmill runner so would be interested to hear how you get on. I did one outside run at 6am when it was v hot to avoid the heat. But then went back to the treadmill!
