Silly Flara! Running with that niggley hip π Note to self: even though you're itching to get out there Flara .... listen to your body and Wait! Even though I ended up walking after only 15minutes though, I still felt empowered by just being out there in my shorts and trainers with my music in my ears! Strutting along like some kind of runner who's just doing a walkie bit! (Little did they know π€£) The biggest gain for me from doing this has to be my increased self confidence. Me in shorts, I would never have believed it. Body issues all my life. Even if it takes me forever to improve my running, I couldn't ask for more than that π

Well done for getting out and trying and then for realising not to keep going. Really pleased you are embracing the shorts still.
Well at least you got out. Thereβs no shame in walking- better that than ending up injured. Love the strutting in your shorts bit π. This programme has so many positives as well as just the running. Hope the hip improves ππββοΈ
It took me until week 6 to wear shorts π Hope your hip recovers soon.
All credit to you for giving it a go. Sounds like this programme is doing you the World of good, which is fantastic. ππ
At the risk of appearing rude post 50 do we care what we look like . As it happens the photos you posted after your runs do not look anything like a purple hippo, you looked like an athlete.
Just keep on moving. Hope hip feels better soon. Go strut your stuff lady.
YESSSSS Flara!!! Strut it!! π this is this bit where I do a sassy click of the fingers!! ππ½ββοΈ
Omg this is sooo that bit !! I'm a-struttin ~ are you clickin' Dee_N π I'm even throwing in a cheeky fist pump! πππ€£
Well done.. especially for listening to your body!
Donβt skimp on the warm up or warm down- I tried running eight years ago, it was too painful. Knees, hips, back, kidneys, everything hurt except my hair. This time Iβm doing the warm up and no issues you wouldnβt expect. Itβs as important as the run itself. Go for it!
Thanks Taffywasawelshman yes hindsight is a great thing and I can see now that not doing a proper warm up/down combined with increasing my distance/time too much too soon has resulted in this! I'm thinking of taking it back a step π
Hey Flara, just spotted this post. Iβm totally there with your hip. Yes, yes, yes! Still do the 5 minute warm ups and downs!! My hip is still niggly so I often put an ice pack on it after Iβve done my post run stretches. Canβt recommend doing the ITB stretches enough after every run too, theyβve been a real help to my hip.
Too cold for shorts now βπ¬πββοΈ Keep your hip warm and snuggly. Fingers crossed with your recovery x
