Iβm rather late in the day with my post but Iβm really excited to share my amazing news!! I had triple joy today! First parkrun, first run with company (Equi-geek and hundreds more!!π) and first 5k completed (in 42.21) no walking involved!! I was absolutely buzzing!!
I arrived at the park to see so many cars, I was like woah! π± I didnβt know what to expect but there was far more people there than I thought there would be. I walked over no doubt looking a bit lost and dazed and out from the crowd came the glorious Equi-geek! Ah...we had a hug and she kindly showed me the ropes! Everyone was so absolutely lovely. What a great atmosphere! Equi stayed with me for the whole run. We chatted about weak knees and running joy, we laughed plenty and we kept going non stop until the very end! She was amazing!! What a wonderful lady!! I had so much fun! π
There was a point when I realised I was going to be able to run the whole thing! No walking involved! That was just the best feeling! I honestly didnβt think I was ready for a 5k! But wow, I can do it! 42 mins! Iβm extraordinarily happy with that!! The support from everyone was phenomenal!! Even those lapping us were giving us encouragement along the way!!
Now, that was another amazing experience!! A triple, triple! Equi-geek! You are fabulous!! Thank you!! Here is a pic of two very happy running ladies!! βπ½β€οΈ

Thanks so much Gazloc! Iβm still smiling now!! Canβt quite believe it! Equi was just brilliant support and encouragement all the way! Fantastic!! β€οΈ
Oh yes Eiralas! Thank you!! Just when you think you might have peaked on the achievement endorphins, you meet up with Equi in the park and thereβs a whole lot more!! πβ€οΈ
I'll be there with you both very soon! Glad you had such a good time! Am going to run the course for practice while my sister is in spain next week. Great photo of you both!! πππ
I think yours and Equiβs posts are the best of the day. We can feel your excitement, emotion and pride. It also shows what c25k and this forum is all about. - Support and friendship. Well done to you both
Aah thank you Dexy! It was truly amazing to actually run with a fellow C25Ker! We know that weβve both been on the same journey! For us, even with the same coach!! So today was very special indeed!! I was nervous but Equi-geek was so reassuring! β€οΈ
Thanks Dexy5... I loved that we even got to hear MJ for a brief moment as we went past two ladies following the app. They were being really sensible and doing the walk warm up π
What a great photo of both of you, you both look elated with that wonderful run you did, like the idea that although you were lapped, the elite runners at the front were giving encouragement and cheering you on.
Thanks Al there were some amazing runners! My goodness the speed was phenomenal! I was in complete awe of their power!! I was very happy at my pace though. So many people of all ages, shapes, sizes and speed! What a fantastic sight! β€οΈ
Hey Fabulous450 π What a great day you've had! Lovely pic of you both ~ how amazing to meet up and run with one of your virtuals!! I hope I get around to meeting up with some in person one day π And your 5k Wahooo! Incredible πππ Well done lovely lady β€
Thank you so much Flara! It has been a fantastic day indeed!! Yaay itβs now all totally official! Iβve gone from the Couch to 5k and with another C25Ker by my side too! ππβ€οΈ
Thatβs a lovely picture and a fab post. Triple excitement felt for both of you. Soooo well done you pair of stars ππππββοΈπββοΈπββοΈ
Thanks so much Beanjo! Equi and all of the runners and volunteers really gave me such great support and confidence. They were so happy and joyful, it just kept you moving along. So far less serious than I had imagined.
There were one or two people from all over the country and from other countries too! So itβs good to know that you might be able to join a local parkrun wherever you may be visiting too! πβ€οΈ
Maybe Iβll pluck up courage to have a go at our local park run one day but just at the moment Iβm concentrating on what Old floss calls these βlovely longer runsβ and enjoying the fact that I can actually run - albeit slowly ππββοΈπββοΈ
Marvellous post! You girls look and sound like you've had a ball! Glorious day! π
Wow!! How fantastic!! I bet youβre still buzzing now, lol. Thatβs my goal but think Iβve a way to go before Iβm ready for a Parkrun but so inspirational, thank you xx
Thanks so much Jan! I honestly thought exactly the same! I even asked Equi if there was a 50 minute pacer. I thought the 40 was not achievable. No 50 but there was a 45! He was lovely too. Explaining the ropes. Showing me all his timing gadgets and the emergency button for any medical support that might be needed. Other runners chatting away and encouraging you at our starting point. LoungeLizaard had encouraged me too by reminding me I didnβt have to run it all, I could walk some! π€ ......βOh yeahβ!
So many many different shapes, sizes abilities, it was amazing!! We even saw a couple of C25Kers who had just started one of their walking intervals! And gave them a cheer!! ππβ€οΈ
Thanks Tbae! I really didnβt think I was ready, but thatβs the nature of running isnβt it? And everyone at the Park and in the Forum knows what thatβs like, so the support is incredible. Having Equi-geek beside me for my first Parkrun was phenomenal! ππππππΌββοΈππΎββοΈβ€οΈ
Sounds like you had an awesome time at park run and well done on your 1st 5k (with a great time too!). Love the photo, you both look so happy. The joy of running is an amazing thing π
Thanks Sybilw! I had planned to walk if I needed to and definitely thought Iβd need to, but the company to go at my pace took away any nervousness or temptation to run faster. I had a new coach too really......Equi-geek! I learned so much! πβ€οΈ
Thank you! Well done MatildasPb!! Good for you getting out there in the changed wet weather!! Iβm feeling so good Iβm going out to deliberately have a walk in it for rest day exercise! Youβre doing brilliantly! Enjoy your last run of W6 and celebrate!! π!
Iβm sure you will enjoy Parkruns whenever you feel like giving it a go!! β€οΈ
