but i didnt have Sarah with me! After 3 weeks off on holidays (i was on w8r2 when i left) i thought i’d try “freestyling” for the next couple of runs just to get back into it, totally unsure how good or bad i’d be 😬
Anyways, i realised that i felt better not having someone wittering in my ear and the runs felt less stressful. Result, on Sunday (technically w9r2) i ran 5k in 34 minutes 🤗 A bit slower this morning, but im now REALLY enjoying these runs, just me and Spotify.
So ive graduated 😁, but feeling a bit of a fraud for ditching Sarah along the way, and i’ll never see my graduation on the app, but there we have it. 12 weeks ago the only thing i was capable of running was my mouth, now i feel like a proper runner. New shoes arriving today too 👟👟

Thank you 😊 I’d never have done it without the support from this community! Manys a time i wanted to quit a run, but all i could hear was all you previous graduates yelling in my head, “get your rear end up that hill” 😂😂
I ditched the app at week 4. I had Jo as my coach but started to feel annoyed with her so like you I decided to do free styling. Unfortunately I have a sore knee and have had to stop but hope to get back to it. One day I hope to be like you and manage the 5k
Keep at it chick! I wouldnt have ditched the app before week7, but after it was all running, no walking, there was definately less pressure. Its not for everyone ... i see some on here still using the app weeks after graduation. I think youve just gotta do what works for you 😊
Glad you found the fast forward button! Yes it’s the runs that matter not the app display. I ran without the app for my last six runs (weeks 8 and 9) by necessity rather than choice because I was in busy and unfamiliar places, where consideration both for other people and for my own safety meant I needed to be able to hear what was going on around me. It is easier to do without the app on the longer runs when you don’t have to keep track of when to take walking breaks. If you like to be aware of your progress then notifications on Fitbit, Strava or whatever achieve that. If you prefer not to have that, it’s just a case of setting a timer on your phone or even just timing your playlist beforehand so you know which song is the cue to stop!
