Well I was supposed to be graduated by now with week 9 runs complete but unfortunately things not quite gone as I’d hoped. I’d planned to do R1 last Saturday early evening, so spent Saturday afternoon gardening which caused my sciatic nerve to decide to give me major grief. So I’ve been laid up with incredible lower back, bum and shooting pains down my leg unable to even walk never mind run. Move forward to today and it’s still pretty bad, can’t really bend or move freely but cautiously mobile but in pain.
I’m absolutely gutted as I’ve not missed a single run of C25K, not had to re-run any and was so wanting to beat week9 by now. I’ve gone from being the fittest I’ve been in years to like a 90 year old in a very short space of time.
I’ve not ran for a week and probably won’t be able to for some time yet. Devastated!!!
So near but now so far

That’s such a shame but the important think is to get your back sorted before you think about running again. The runs will always be there so a delay just means you’ll graduate later. Enjoy that garden while you can’t run 🌸🌼🌻🌺🥀🌹🌷💐
Hey don't beat yourself up, you will get to finish it all & you'll be so proud of yourself, you just need to recover as sciatica is a mare
If it's any consolation I did run W9R1 then went on holiday for 2 weeks, came back & it was so hot I didn't go so it was a month till my second run & I still managed it but my thighs were sore next day.
So get well and get back to it to get your trophy which you truly deserve 🏃🏃🏃
Get some physio, gentle moving, and gentle return when ready. Back pain is the worst, I know this, lots of brufen, co-codamol . The runs will still be there and you will do them. Employ a gardener!
So sorry to read this- being the oldest member of the Group when we started (64 and most were in their 20's and 30's) I too had a fear that something would bite me and I would not be able to continue. Be assured you will get back to it even if it means starting from an earlier week to get going again. Back issues are awful and need resolving before anything else can work properly. Take care, rest up - the running is waiting for you when you are better!!
