Hi all

I’m week 5 and although my focus is on running style and duration I would like to know just how close to 5k I run. I’m guess I cover about 2k max at my pace. What do you use to measure the distance you run?

I mostly run along the same path so I used mapmywalk to measure 2.5k from the car park in each direction so that when I do a run which ever direction I am heading I cover 5K although currently it takes me far longer than the app and I finish off walking. I quite like knowing that I'm covering the 5K no matter how long it takes me and the extra cool down walk is good and I get time to enjoy the after run buzz haha! I'm also on week 5. So I don't know the exact distance I cover when running, very little I guess!! It will be interesting in later weeks to start timing how long it takes me to do the 5K overall and then start working on reducing that.

I use endomondo, it's pretty good as it looks for goals I've done for a personal best each time, keeps me going!

Apple Watch and Strava for me. It’s great for recording splits and even gives you a local league table if others in your area are doing the same route :-)

Also in week 5. Been using MapMyRun. Pleasing to see the distance is slowly increasing! Also made me realise why some days are harder: must remember to avoid the big hill at the star of my run 😄

I think I’ll go with map my run. I too have a hill that sneaked into my route. I do feel amazed still that I can jog up it but it does take it out of me. But I think I’ll have to move out of Devon to avoid hills altogether!

I use my fit bit so as I finish my warm up walk I check and keep a mental note of starting distance and then again at the end just so I get a good idea of my actual running distance without the warm up and cool down. I did 3k in 25 mins on w7 r1
