Just out of interest how do you guys record your distance? Just the run bit or everything including warm up and cool down walks? If I add up everything I get to 5k (sometimes) but if the walks don't count then I still have a way to go to 5k. I am not stressing about the distance just curious as to what everyone counts. I am just very happy to be running for 30 minutes to be honest but I do like to see how far I have gone and compete with myself
Is it 5k??: Just out of interest how do you guys... - Couch to 5K
Is it 5k??
Hi cheryl_couch_tatty . I only record the run bits. When on C25k I only started to track when the intervals stopped and straight running began. But tbh don’t worry about the KM number just complete the runs without stopping - that’s the goal. 😊
Up until graduation I was including my warm up / warm down and was getting to just over the 5k point ... I did my first graduation run yesterday and decided to only measure the run section - reached just over 4K in 32 mins, think I will stick to just measuring the run from now on but I guess it really doesn't matter one way or the other as long as you are consistent in what you do 😊
Hi there, I only started keeping a note once the intervals had finished. In week 6 I counted the warm up walk and run but not the cool down walk). Once I got to W7 I was only interested in the run part. What I did find though was the running app times were a little different to C25K. So I just stuck with the running app times.
I didn't really measure anything until I graduated; I just obeyed Jo Whiley as she ran alongside me. But now I use the strava app and measure just the running distance/time as a way of measuring my improvement as I consolidate. Happy running . 😎
Just the run bit these days. But don't worry about it. Not sure where you are on the programme, but it's really only when you get to the end of W6 that you might want to check the running bits on their own.
Most important things for you at the moment are to have fun, keep it nice and slow and don't worry about distance
