Wanted! Reward offered

Missing for about 2-3 weeks my endorphins have dissapeared. Never to be seen again! Just completed W8R1, uphill struggle all the way, never seemed to get into a rhythm. Slowed the pace down to 8kph as I gave half an armful on Monday but the last few weeks I just do not seem to get the buzz!

Any suggestions?

Hi Jonno34,

Well done on your progress so far. I am no expert, a serious beginner only having begun C25k in March and graduated in May.

I lost motivation before I graduated, but it is back at the moment. Quite a few people gave me advice and I read other posts and replies (I expect that I made use of the useful search bar, top right of screen).

I think that you using a treadmill, obviously we all have to find a way that suits us, but I love being outside. I avoid the heat by running before 6am. That may not be an option for you. I was bored with my routes, but now I am tackling the hills that I was avoiding so much more to explore.

Folk have spoken of listening to audio books, dessert island discs, podcasts of all sorts etc etc to help.

Some folk said consider why you want to run, perhaps even some other activity would suit your aim better. I wanted a change from the Canadian Airforce exercises that I had done for years. I am certainly looking to be as fit and healthy as I can be.

Why are you making yourself struggle? Slow down! Slow and steady is the way, slow is the new fast, when you have slowed down, slow down some more! There is always a slower speed. I am repeating what I have read. 8km/h is faster than I have averaged on any of my runs. Speed can come later, if you want it too. The programme is designed to build our bodies slowly to prepare for bigger challenges later.

I had bought running shoes for week 6 and felt it would be criminal to give up without a year's running outings, so that was another reason that I continued!

Do you read many posts by the way? Have you a group at a similar stage to urge one another along? I actually need to cut down on both reading and replying, I find everyones stories so interesting.

All the very best to you whatever you choose.

Thanks for the input. 38 outside this afternoon, there is your answer. I have been on 8.3 since the start, I am not breathless though I would not like to have a long conversation. It has not caused me difficulty so far but maybe it is the heat too. Podcasts may be worth looking into. Again thanks

My endorphins keep going and I can’t sleep love it to a point but not to the point I can’t sleep my partner says I change completely when I ve run
