W6R3 done with a lot of firsts!

First number 1: I ran in shorts. I’ve never liked wearing shorts because of chafing, but I bought myself a pair of denim shorts a week or so ago and been wearing them out and about and actually been feeling pretty comfortable with them which has me buzzing. So today I stole some of my boyfriends shorts (I don’t have any) and went out. They rode up my leg a couple of times but nothing too bad.

First number 2 (kind of): I ran outside again. Week 4 I did one run on the treadmill, the whole of week 5 and the first two of week 6 were on the treadmill. But today, I went and battled the heat after a 7 hour shift on my feet.

First number 3: I had more than one rest day before this run. The last time I ran was Tuesday, Had trains to catch early Thursday morning and got back later than planned last night (train was over an hour late getting back into Manchester City centre, the tracks were too hot in Scotland so had to run at reduced speed, then a fire near Wigan meant we were diverted. Then we missed our train home from there, so it was a long journey home and I had to get up at 4:15 this morning for Work.

Anyways, I had 4 rest days before today’s. Tbh I was a bit nervous, because it’s just all none stop runs from here and it felt weird not running. Being at a festival on Friday meant my feet were dead from standing still most of the day at the front of the stage, and I did quite a bit of walking anyways. Got some really good pictures of the Script and Stereophonics though!

First number 4: took a new route. I tried to stay in the shade as much as possible, but wasn’t always an option. Had to run under a bridge a couple of times and that felt like heaven!

First number 5: I had app issues! I did the warm up and started running. I felt like I’d been running for quite a while, Strava guy was updating me and told me I’d run 1k, and I hadn’t heard anything from Jo. I assumed, she’d pop in every 5 minutes or so, so I had a look and the app had paused :(

Strava also wouldn’t tell me the time, I couldn’t get off the map! So I guessed based on my split times, and where I started off running. In the end I ran about 3k in 26 minutes, so pretty slow, but I’m fine with that right now. This temperature is not made for me trying to be as fast as I possibly can.

First number 6: I RAN FOR 25 MINUTES! I took it really slowly, around 8:30/9 minutes/km, and just plodded along. I’m not really sure if I found my rhythm or not, but I did it and I’m really chuffed ☺️ don’t think I’ve ever ran for that long, even at school.

It felt like a hard run. The activities over the past few days and the heat and transitioning back to outdoor running took its toll. It didn’t feel great, but meh. I did it, and that’s what matters.

Bit of a long post (oops) but I’m excited to start the last 3 weeks over the next few days.

Happy Sunday everyone x

Well done. Too hot to feel really good, but an achievement still. You deserve an ice cream!

I remember you telling us all that you were going to Glasgow to see Script, Stereophonics at the Glasgow Green TRNSMT music festival, I hope you enjoyed the concert, the weather was and still is fantastic in Glasgow, I watched that concert on television, so you were at the front, one of those girls jumping up and down to the great music, of course I did not recognise you but you all looked so happy. So now back to more serious things like running.

Yeah it was great! My necks a bit burnt which isn’t great but apart from that had a really good day. I was but I’ve watched some of it back and didn’t see myself much! Just once or twice!

And yep! Back to the running and uni work ahah!
