The things people say ........😁

I have always worried that someone would mock my shuffle but I wasn't prepared for what just happened. A woman in the park asked how I was doing and said she has been watching me and wishes she could run! Yes ...... she called me a runner!! I'm not making it up! And yes I told her all about C25K 😁😁

It's good to see your post, I've only just completed W1R2 and am very self-concious. I've been scanning ahead to see if anyone is there, changing course and am even tempted to do the 'sports day' look behind, to see who's on my heels.

My shuffle comes with loud laboured breathing and I'm sure a contorted face to match.

So thanks for that, maybe I'm not a joke but an inspiration.

We all feel the same way Triga. I honestly believe had it not been for this forum I would have given up. This is where you will hear from others who shuffle, struggle to breathe and who don't want to be seen. But I think it is true what others have said. People are too busy concentrating on what they are doing to be looking at anyone else. I'm a 55 year old female, overweight and could never have run to the end of the street. I have just now managed 30 mins and didn't ever think I would. The best advice I got was to go VERY slowly and there is no such thing as too slow. I'm still shuffling but now can manage for 30 mins!! So that is something to be proud of! 😁

That's great! I cannot imagine going for 30 minutes without walking.

Thanks for the inspiration; I was actually dreading run 3, now I'm feeling a little more confident.

Honestly, we were all the same. Just keep telling yourself to slow down and you will go the distance.

You certainly are. Well done for starting. Just trust the programme and take it slowly 🐌 and you will be amazed at what your body can do πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ

That’s lovely & so encouraging. I try & spot fellow C25Ks in the park - walking, running walking etc. Harder to spot in the later weeks as it’s more or less constant running. Well doneπŸ™‚

Yes you are a runner and I am sure there are more people just like us on the streets running now. I have been extolling the virtues of c25k to everyone and someone at Pilates said she has now been on the website because she is thinking of taking it up . If we encourage just one person each it will make an amazing difference to the health of this country.

That's brilliant! I do think the vast majority of people look at runners and think we're either mad or fab. I've had so many strangers say nice things to me which is so encouraging πŸ™‚

Well done you runner you πŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺ

What a lovely comment πŸ€—

I don't think it matters if you are W1R1 or a graduate, you are out there giving it your best πŸƒπŸƒπŸƒπŸƒ

I was horribly self concious when I started running outside but surprised myself how quickly I stopped worrying about it. . . . . it must be fluorescent-trainers-and-lycra-effect! if I'd been told a year ago that I would be running round the local park three times a week, I would have laughed in disbelief x x
