You need people of intelligence on this sort of mission... quest... thing."

(Tuesday) our mission... quest... thing moves to greater levels over the rest of the week. The leader has to achieve 7/2 today, weather regardless. Corporal spoonierunning WILL be graduating. Captain Waletta will stop eating her gingerbread house and her batman will assist further with the washing up. I_will will play lap harp, beek her squeaky grass, Miles_Yonder the bugle and of course we will have the starting triangle. Corporal poppypug (ents div) will keep us entertained, I'm sure. Gril of wonder still missing.

Are we aware of your thing for the week?

OK ! OK!!! I give in!!!

What is this all about - even a hint would be nice. I recognise that it is the English language -- but perhaps as it is spoken on another Planet??? :)

Bazza1234 we a a simple band of brothers challenging the might of the grasping nhs. I will not succumb to their torture and will use all in my many powers to be free. I have a guerrilla army some of whom seem to be approaching the moves from rank and file to officer levels. I've only just come to acknowledge this and promotions will be made by the end of the week. As you can tell, I am given musical assistance by my troops as I go out on my forays to view their battle positions. I've had a George Foreman Girl of Wonder recommended to make my bacon sandwiches but I can't find one in Currys. Maybe it's Formby, Clooney or Bush; I shall carry on looking. Some have suggested we are silly. We look to Corporal poppypug (ents div) for our entertainment. Nan provides Dodgers. We have no political/religious/interplanetary/state of health affiliation or rules for joining other than enjoyment and self-preservation. Join us if you wish, you may need to provide Jammie Dodgers first time round.

Who you calling simple? Actually batman did the dishes again tonight. I moseyed down to the old club to be told that despite eating the equivalent of a whole gingerbread house I am still on target & only put on a pound and that with no battle runs. Am I right in thinking my eateemed (that was meant to be esteemed- was there some Freudian meaning here) leader has just done battle with week 7 run 2 & is unscathed & can Bazza be said to have enlisted & the ent div, has this anything to do with talking trees? Have yet to get back out running 1 week & 1 day on. :(

Oh crikey, even the commander is starting to lose track now!

We'll see if today brings news of/from Bazza1234. We should possibly check that Corporal poppypug (ents div) knows the purpose of our ents. She seems to.

Oh, and don't forget the daily quote, usually from deep and meaningful literature.

Leader, Sir, best wishes for 7/2. Achieve you shall. Tomorrow I have 9/2. Onward we must March. Onward with bugles.

dozzer19 profile image
dozzer19Graduate in reply to Miles_Yonder

Oh Miles_Yonder, you have quickly assimilated your way into our army for great and good. We are with you, music and flags available if needed. That 'tache deserves you promotion regardless of running level. Welcome Corporal Miles_Yonder.

Miles_Yonder profile image

My gratitude is hearty and plentiful, Sir, and your support and kind mightily appreciated. With flags, bugles, finely waxed moustaches and vibrant running gear, our army cannot fail. Onward, dearest Leader.

waletta profile image

& just one more question - how did M-Y know about my moustache? It's just a disguise for undercover work.

We must have an enemy spy within our battalion! Everybody stay calm. The walls have ears!

It's okay the walls were gingerbread- have been dealt with.

Good to hear the walls have gone - don't get squashed by the roof!

Captain Waletta and ADC that is truly heroic work. Well done, old chap.

Sir sorry sir, no graduating run today, I'm back in the mess tent nursing a sore throat. But I have a George Forman, though alas I don't know if it's 'the' fabled girl of wonder are there any tests I can conduct to find out? Good luck today.

dozzer19 profile image
dozzer19Graduate in reply to spoonierunning

Mess tent again! If you have a sore throat you need to be in the field hospital not nestling up with the Soreen. Put a plaster on - you'll be fine. Not sure about the Girl of Wonder - see if she makes a decent bacon buttie, I suppose.

spoonierunning profile image
spoonierunningGraduate in reply to dozzer19

Alas no bacon, I could try a cheese melt.

I am sure I just need some fortifying vitals and a snooze, I think the field hospital has more important things to do. I have earl grey tea and chocolate digestives.

dozzer19 profile image
dozzer19Graduate in reply to spoonierunning

Go on then. Maybe some fortifying builders tea would help? I hear it's full of nutrients.

spoonierunning profile image
spoonierunningGraduate in reply to dozzer19

Yuck to builders tea, I do however have some loose leaf English Breakfast!

dozzer19 profile image
dozzer19Graduate in reply to spoonierunning

Just back from 7/2. To be quite honest I think even green tea would do.

Windswept1 profile image

Bazza might need an explanation of Jammie Dodgers!

dozzer19 profile image
dozzer19Graduate in reply to Windswept1

Nan's almost always got Dodgers in the biscuit cupboard - she pops down to Poundland for ever greater supplies. Coupons and vouchers are a great help to the cause. She may soon be able to deal direct with Burton's.

Our pound shop doesn't seem to stock the jammie dodgers, choccie bikkies galore, but not seen the jammie wonderness!

dozzer19 profile image

Corporal poppypug (ents div) sees more of nan than I do - maybe she can help you out.

Discovered a bejewelled (well, be-stickered) battle ocarina in the loft yesterday whilst searching for insurgents' camp (wasp nest). Luckily no lurking baddies but did find stash of musical instruments from daughters' younger days. Could probably put together a one-woman-band to rally the troops or, more likely, terrorise the enemy! Good luck with your 7/2 sortie Sir!

dozzer19 profile image
dozzer19Graduate in reply to AncientMum

An ocarina - now that will really have them on the run! Unf have put kit on but i-thingie not charged. Bah!

AncientMum profile image
AncientMumGraduate in reply to dozzer19

Nooooo, mission sabotaged by technology gremlins. Chin up Sir, you'll be up and at 'em in no time. In the meantime, maybe a cup of tea and a slice of Soreen (for medicinal purposes only, of course)

I am thinking that it seems that the NHS have not given out the needed daily doses of medication ??

dozzer19 profile image
dozzer19Graduate in reply to Bazza1234

No, no, no. That is a slight upon my honour. If you're not careful I'll set Captain Waletta and Corporal poppypug (ents div) on you. It's all good honest entertainment, no need for medication.

Bazza, I was previously taken to task for suggesting the troops here were 'silly'. I think you should offer them some Lamingtons and Violet Crumbles, they would appreciate that...

Bazza1234 profile image
Bazza1234Graduate in reply to TurboTortoise

Well -- I suppose I could -- but to get fresh ones, they would have to come here to Australia to get them.

dozzer19 profile image
dozzer19Graduate in reply to TurboTortoise

TT, what are Lamingtons and Violet Crumbles? Are they to be found on these shores? Where should we send nan to find them?

dozzer19 profile image
dozzer19Graduate in reply to dozzer19

Hmm. Maybe we could convince Corporal spoonierunning to take nan out there. She seems to be spending a lot of time in the mess tent - she may as well help get provisions. Will she find them in AUS$land?

TurboTortoise profile image
TurboTortoiseGraduate in reply to dozzer19

They are exotic sweetmeats peculiar to the large continent to the west of Middle Earth. I think you can get Violet Crumbles off Amazon and I'm sure nan could whip up the lamingtons at home, they are not complicated.

dozzer19 profile image
dozzer19Graduate in reply to TurboTortoise

Nan's always maintained such an area to be purely mythical. She says she'll give the recipe a go as an experiment though.

Bazza1234 profile image
Bazza1234Graduate in reply to dozzer19

What are lamingtons and Violet Crumbles ???? Now , I know that you are not serious!!!

dozzer19 profile image
dozzer19Graduate in reply to Bazza1234

The curious being, Nigella, (I don't see what that's all about) will have a recipe for the former. It seems nan will have to travel across what she calls uncharted waters for the latter. She says we have to make do with dodgers as she's too scared to take the risk.

This week's mission? I'm *meant* to be on R&R preceding Sunday's tackling of the 3-headed serpent in the Park that Hydes, however have signed on to STREAK for the next 40 days, so have been out for a quick trot round the block with the wet stuff falling from the heavens.

I have a recorder somewhere to add to the battle hymn if needed, however as I can't hold a tune in a bucket it would scare the enemy much much more should I attempt to sing!

dozzer19 profile image
dozzer19Graduate in reply to Beads

Oh, my orchestra is truly stupendous! So, we have a starting triangle, a portable lap harp, squeaky grass, a bugle, a bejewelled ocarina and now a recorder. We rock. Sunday's mission in the Hyding park is unknown to me. Also do not catch a chill doing the STREAK.

dozzer19 profile image
dozzer19Graduate

Am returned. 7/2 completed. Close to collapse. Realised The wicked Bluey's instruction not to push myself too hard and to concentrate on keeping going to the end was probably stopping me from trying too hard so I drummed up the orchestra and moved faster. I must work out how far I'm covering - certainly not 5km in thirty mins. Must now regenerate and get back to imaginary life.

Today's mission (2/3) was thwarted by volunteering to aid in escorting a troop of thirty 6- year olds across the park (obeying all traffic regulations at major intersections) and into the Museum for 2 hours drawing anything they like. Naturally, my 3 squaddies could not agree on whether to draw objects in the room with dinosaur bones, the room with creepy Victorian era taxidermied animals or the room with looted Egyptian artifacts. Oi! It was settled with dinosaurs first, and then me stationed in the doorway between the other 2 rooms so they could split up. And then we had snack. And then they all agreed on drawing the fighter plane hanging from the ceiling above the taxidermied animals. And then we had to herd them all backo their barracks, er, I mean school.

Myself and several other mums stopped for a cuppa and pastry afterwards. I'm not sorry for the calories. It was that or booze, and it was a wee bit early yet for respectable mums to go to the pub!

Tomorrow, i will run, sir.

dozzer19 profile image
dozzer19Graduate in reply to Nilzed

That sounds to have been more than battle sufficient. Esp keeping those little ones safe from our dastardly enemy. There is no joy to be had in life fretting about calories. Healthy diet with sensibly scattered treats are much better than self-flagellation due to feelings of guilt. (I am possibly not the best person to come to for diet tips by the way but that sounds pretty reasonable.) Our wishes are with you for tomorrow, show them what you're made of - you can borrow some instruments and players if you wish.

By all means, my brave knight. There is usually something to drink and some form of entertainment going on in the mess tent. If not, I'm afraid you'll have to make your own. Or phone nan.
