W1R2

So first run was Friday 6am on the prom and found it ok😀.Just done run 2 same place and found it really hard going. Anyone else experienced this? It was warmer, more windy and evening (I’m usually a straight out of bed before work exerciser) but am I just making/finding excuses- definitely deflating, found the minute runs very long and just wanted them to be over. Not looking forward to Tuesday now

I’m actually concerned my brisk walking might not be brisk enough but today it was what it was as I needed to get my heart rate and breathing back to something normal between runs - I didn’t have this problem on Friday. Thank you for your reply

Well done! But you've started and completed the first 2 runs, some runs can feel very tough, keep it slow and steady and make sure you're well hydrated drinking enough water over the previous day's and not a load just beforehand..

Thank you, I definitely think I’m better first thing in the morning.

Heat wind and a less preferred time of day: three things that are not excuses, they can make it harder but the point is that you did it anyway, hard or not, so well done. Finding it easy is not the criterion for a successful run: any run you finish according to the rubric is a success; anything else is not a fail just a practice run :)

Hi anncjones1! You’ve done it! Run 2, well done! You’ll soon find the time that suits you best and we don’t do that without trying it out. Every run completed is another step forward. Slow is the mantra! Snail is the pace! I’m sure my walking speed is faster than my run, by far! Don’t worry, you’re not alone and you can do it! ❤️

think about your running form

nice a slow head up shoulders back and relax

when you get tired its natural to lean forward and look at the ground which restricts your breathing

im about to start week 9 have found it hard but have lost 1.5 stone keep your head up and breath

I'm a morning runner. I also did a later run at one point, it was warm, I had eaten and it was a new route, and it was the closest I got to almost giving up on the run..... really hard! Since then I've gone back to my 6am slot and no problems! X

I run along a sea front that is often windy too. Going into the wind really messes up my breathing. Some people suggest running with a buff over the mouth, but that doesn't appeal. Another suggestion of running with head to one side seems like a recipe for disaster! I'm thinking of finding a less picturesque route away from the sea to use on windy days.
