W6R2 Struggling!

Hi this is my first post. I’m currently on week 6, never been much of a runner but I’ve surprised myself, up until now. I started struggling at week 5 run 3 but managed to complete it, although I did walk for 10 seconds, twice. I’m now on week 6 run 2 which has really exhausted me, the thought of run 3 and running for 25 mins is filling me with dread. If I’m honest I think my problem is psychological, I start out with all good intentions and 10 mins in I feel like I’ve been running for ever and can’t wait to get it over with. I do listen to music while I run but I’m still struggling.

Slow down. And then slow down more. At this point the challenge is mental not physical. If you slow down you don't give the little men who live in your head and pull the levers any ammunition... 👍👍

What Sallenson said. Maybe also take two rest days instead of one if you’re getting jaded - it’s a mental rest as well as a physical one. Or else promise yourself two rest days AFTER you complete this one, whatever works for you.

Had a hardtime on this run as well, done what everyone advised and slowed it right down for the next run and was able to complete it, have just came back in from completing w7r3, trust in the programme

I went through exactly the same thing at this point, it’s a real game changer, but followed the advise of these wonderful people on this forum, got through it, and I’m now on week 8 and feeling confident good luck and keep it up.

I slowed down to slower than I was comfortable with but it worked! You've come this far you've got this 💪🏼

Perhaps download 4 or 5 tracks of favourite music - to last 23 ( or 20 if you want) mins as a distraction and encouragement. 😄

I made myself a playlist of favourite music after graduating- I often found at the point that I wanted to stop the next track gave me a boost & I would think “ Oh this track’s good, I’ll keep going for this one” - and then exactly the same thing would happen on the next track… and the next one… 😀
