Jo Whiley and knees

Run day tomow (W5 R2, so 5,8,5 I think, in minutes) but I took spouse and Doglet on 3 mile walk today. Result: Cronky knees pretty sore, but bearable. I think. In my limited acquaintance with JW, nothing has been said I think about knees. Shin splints and stitch yes, but not knees. Im thinking of going for it anyway, taking it S L O W L Y (that's bound to happen) and see if ok. Any other knee sufferers out there? Its sort of internal, and no Im not going to the quacks, and no I wont blame anyone for their thoughts/advice/commands. Im just pondering. Many thanks. David

I did W5 R2 yesterday, having approached it with apprehension, but strangely I found it to be slightly easier than W5 R1. I think steady pace, gentle jog is the secret, as well as allowing your mind to wander onto things other than running - that helps the minutes pass! Good luck.

Thank you CJ, I’m looking forward to the run, but I haven’t yet asked my knees!

I twisted my knee doing zumba three weeks ago and felt it for the next couple of weeks' runs (just finished W4R3), but it seems to have settled down. Just monitor the situation. If it continues to be sore, though, go to the doc for a check. Running (as my gym-bunny partner keeps telling me) is not for everyone. Also, cut down on the bounce and try to run more smoothly if you can, as this will be an impact thing as much as anything else. My two penn'orth.

ThAnks JS, run is a great word, I’m

a bit more amblerish really, but not going to give up! Knees I ll keep under review, they took some big hits a few years ago when, like a neejit, I tried yogic flying. Not good!

Same run and three hours later ankles and knees were achey but I woke after a good nights sleep and felt better today, but nervous about tomorrow and 20 minutes!
