Consolidation W1R3

Up very early for me - 6am. Ran for 33 mins (110%) and managed 3.7k.

Much faster first km than usual and I felt it. Toxic 10 pretty awful but second half of the run lovely and uneventful.

Had I known halfway how good I would feel at the end then I might have been tempted to try for 5k, but I think that’s still out of reach.

Back to work after 11 days leave today so I didn’t have that long to run anyway. Now playing catch up to get to work on time!

Whatever run you have next, enjoy it x

Sounds good! (Except for the getting up at 6am part *shudder*). Build up to that 5k steadily and you will get there- there's no rush :-)

Well done Jay! 33 minutes is another PB, and very impressed at that early start too :)

Silly question time!!

What exactly is a consolidation run? 🤔

After graduating they recommend you do 3x30 mins for 3 weeks to embed your running and (as that makes for a total of at least 12 weeks) to make it a habit you are more likely to continue.

What you actually do is up to you - mine is going Saturday 30 min run (or Parkrun), Monday 30 min run, Wednesday 33 min run.

Looking to build up towards the duration I need for 5k (around 45 mins 😳).

Thanks for that. It does make sense. I think by then I’ll have the real bug, well hoping so.

Might even do a Forest Gump, Run Forest Run 😂😂

W6R3 did that to me! Although not every run since has been easy - some far from it - I’ve enjoyed every run or (at worst, W9R2 I’m looking at you) the feeling after every run.

I even enjoyed my terrible, mountainous Parkrun.

Haha I think we enjoyed your account of your mountainous parkrun more! 😂👏

Well done on the run. I am looking forward to building up to 33 minutes over the next week or two. Much prefer the early morning runs.

I melt in too much heat. The night before a run I look at the weather first thing and mid-evening. If one is distinctly cooler, it wins. Otherwise Morning wins.

I’m sleeping better than I have been this year (separation, empty bed, stress of pending divorce, yadda yadda) but I just can’t seem to lie in anymore. Morning wins again.

And the belt has shrunk a notch! 😜
