Week 4 Run 1!!!!!!

Waking up with excited anticipation and oh my giddy aunt what are you thinking woman.

Got the kit on hopped into the car, still not brave enough to trot around the village, and went to my place. Music on, Km measurer on (it came with the phone, Strava is beyond me) and strapping Sarah to my arm we were off.

I like the warm up I can do that, its like walking. Then into the three minutes yep did that last week, no more screaming for Sarah to say thats enough. 90 seconds rest are you kidding, as soon as I stop running my calves think its time to tighten not to full on cramp but moan, I ignore, we are doing this! Are you recovered Sarah says I say no legs does she listen, does she 'eck lets do 5 minutes! plodded for 5 minutes yes i have found a down shift that isnt reverse but still with a plodding action looking at my feet they are just off the ground together so i am technically jogging, glad i am not on a bus route as I would never catch one the speed Im going. Sarah begins chatting telling me what i have done and what id left to do, Im doing great pet! No begging her to say time to recover, listening to feet plodding, legs feeling ok breathing in check, tried the breathing thingy and legs went funny. Cognitively I cant manage both it seems, so I let the breathing do its own thing, Im guessing since I have done this since birth, my lungs haven't failed me yet. Back to walking Oh my auntie they begin hurting as soon as I stop calves tightening, I want to run they dont hurt. Whats that all about. Repeat the whole process Get in there, all runs completed. Warm down walk feet going to sleep, huge pins and needles and numbness laces undone and a quick stretch on both calves, manage to get back to the car sitting down immediate relief not like when you have true pins and needles when moving the affected bit sends agony up to the brain.

Home stretches, foam roll, warm shower, fluids coming, I know I am bad for not drinking, its not my cup of tea so to speak.

I can say overall I enjoyed the challenge if at the beginning I was told I would be running 5 minutes at week 4 I would have scoffed, I scoffed when I was running 1 minute. How those little week 1 minutes built up to 5 minutes in such a small space of time. Its little wins psychologically each small little run accumulates into something bigger, a belief grows within yourself, you can do this.

Also is it too early to notice changes in your shape. I think I have a waist appearing when I was always straight down and my bottom seems slightly lifted no longer looking like a saggy elephants bottom. Less cellulite but still the inner thigh wobble.

Whatever this is doing physically it is also mentally improving my well-being, I feel strong in that department too, less afraid. I know I can now run for 5 minutes, distance so unimportant 5Km is not the goal its going to be 30 minutes of continuous running and no bus catching.
