Love dogs - hate irresponsible dog owners... Apologies for short uncharacteristic rant.

If you can’t stop your dog chasing people maybe, just maybe, you should keep it on a lead?!

Rant over

W2 R1 Enjoying being out and jogging again after all the years that I couldn’t due to inherited heart valve problem. Plumbing now fixed and hitting the streets again. Yes!

Completely agree! As the owner of a nervous and sometimes aggressive from fear dog I know that he has to stay on a lead around others! I hate it when people do nothing to stop their dogs from running up to people. I hate it when they say that it's ok cos their dog is friendly. My dog is not friendly and I've been bitten because of other people's friendly dogs being less than friendly when my dog growls at them. I hate it when owners of huge dogs think it's funny when they jump up you! I love dogs and am not frightened by a dog running up to me but others are nervous and a dog can be terrifying! I hate it when other dog owners tut at us when my dog is growling at their oh so friendly loose dog. I e been told to control my dog who is on a lead when loose dogs are running up to him! It's bad manners! Have yet to encounter a loose dog running luckily! That's my rant over- sorry! Most dog owners are responsible and sensible!!!

Yep I agree 99% of dog owners are great.

Having been chased and even bitten a couple of times in a previous life as a regular jogger I know it’s only a few owners. It’s a shame that a few spoiler the reputation of the many.

I share your annoyance. I don’t dislike dogs at all but they make me nervous following being chased and bitten when cycling as a kid. And they sense that fear which makes me a magnet.

I’ve been lucky to have only one encounter. But my route is deliberately avoiding nearby, beautiful canal towpath to avoid dog walkers.

Well done! Yes I'm with you on the irresponsible dog owners- it's partly the reason I gave up running outside. So well done for powering on through.

I've been ok with not being chased so far, had a couple join me for a bit, which is actually a nice distraction. Again I actually like dogs and run mainly in fields and recreation grounds but what annoys me with the inconsiderate minority, are those that leave their dogs mess on the ground despite dedicated bins being provided. There ends my rant!
