Intermittent fasting!

So this has come to my attention again. I heard about it a few years ago when Hugh Jackman (Mmm Hugh Jackman šŸ¤¤. Phwoar (oops sorry, was that out loud?!ā˜ŗļøšŸ˜‚) said in an interview that he did this. You eat normal meals, but only in an 8 hour period thereby ā€˜fastingā€™ for 16 hours. Apparently, and please donā€™t quote me on this, the body can take up to 12 hours to digest food, after which time, if you havenā€™t eaten in that 12 hours, it will then start to burn fat. So a full 4 hours of fat burning before your next meal.

For me, because I have never been able to eat or face breakfast, this is totally do-able, and Iā€™m pretty sure Iā€™ve done it many times without realising I was ā€˜intermittent fastingā€™.

So has anyone tried this? Has it worked? I would be very interested to hear details

TBH, and this is just my opinion, i dont think it matters one jot when you eat. If you are in a caloric deficit, you will lose weight. 3500 calories = 1lb of body fat. So if you eat 500 calories less than you burn every day, you will lose weight. What you eat and when you eat it has 0 bearing on the outcome.

As i say, just my opinion šŸ˜Š x

I just wondered if there may be more useful advice on our sister site :) I do know with running we do have to be aware of not going out under-fuelled ...

Some useful info here maybe...

Thank you! Iā€™ve just read your link and it gives some interesting views. I may give this a go simply because I practically do that anyway. Also Iā€™m nowhere near 5k yet so donā€™t need to worry about fueling up beforehand haha

Thanks Annie
