I am really struggling with the heat (I much prefer the rain) and as I've joined the gym I thought the solution might be to use the treadmill. I'm just starting wk 9.
Any suggestions?

Hi Penny, treadmills are a different ball game - a few conversations ago there was a discussion about them. Can be difficult, think it's a balance thing. My suggestion, and you did ask - go out in the early morning, it's really lovely, it's cool and quite refreshing.
I'm broadly in the "treadmills are the Devil's Instruments of Torture Category" I'm afraid; I like getting outside first thing in the morning. If you are going to use a treadmill I'd suggest having a practice on it a couple of times first rather than than hoping for the best.
Good luck however you choose to run tho
Running is running. Track, trail or treadmill, as long no as you are running, that is all that matters. Many people prefer running on treadmills to running outdoors. Every pro athlete and Olympic runner spends a significant amount of their training time on a treadmill. What works is king, always. Do what works for you.
And just find a pace where you are comfortable and sustainable. Not necessarily looking at the speed just press the button until you feel ok. Only advice is slow the machine before you slow your feet or you will end up out the back 😄
Join the gym and use the treadmill...............rather you than me.......
I have done exactly what you're proposing. Im on w8r3 and have done about 6 runs on treadmill when the weather was too hot or wet and windy so I'm sure you will benefit from mixing it up a bit. I do think it's a tad easier on treadmil as you wont be faced with any unexpected gradient, you can keep a set pace and you won't twist your ankle on any rough terraine. There you are, go for it 🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️
Thanks everyone! I did wk9r1 on the treadmill! It wasn't too bad, but i did miss the great outdoors. I found the time and heart rate indicators disconcerting and have to admit I had a woozy moment when I came off it.
I think I'll carry on to graduation indoors then revert outdoors when it's cooler.
