I’ve found along this fitness journey that I absolutely cannot listen to terrible music when moving about. I’ve started compiling a long playlist of songs to get me pumped and to kick off almost delirium in me on top of the endorphins.
One I found particularly useful this morning is No One Knows by Queens of the Stone Age. Not usually my thing but the beat kept my pace right!
I only listen to music that l normally like to listen to and never do playlists, always listen to full albums, suits me better to get the whole uninterrupted story rather than lots of different bits, especially during longer runs.
Makes no difference what beat it is, I tend to avoid it and focus on music itself as l can be tired for the particular beat and don't want a machine to push me.
If the music doesn't suit you, you will get annoyed and the run will suffer. You don't want that. If l had to listen to some white noise pumping beat stuff l would probably pick up a fight with the first herd of wildebeests I'd come across.
If you use Spotify there are loads of running playlists on there that you can look through they're great for picking out songs to add to your own playlist.
Some of my favourites I've found are:
Wicked Ones - Dorothy
River - Bishop Briggs
I Can Feel It in My Bones - AE MAK
Bills - grandson
Thunder - Imagine Dragons (my fave! it's impossible NOT to run along in time with this one!)
I find music so helpful when running so really keen to see if any one else has suggestions
I was debating trying a podcast, do you have any favourites? The only one I regularly listen to is School for Dumb Women but I’d probably end up wheezing from laughter rather than running
