I’ve loved my Nike downshifters and only £50 but now I’m running further I’m going for a gait analysis

Suggest you go to a shop that can do a gait analysis. As you start to click up more kilometres you are more prone to injury so a decent pair of trainers is essential. I like Asics and Saucony, but it's all a personal preference.

Think of the trainers as a treat for you because you have progressed so much. You deserve them.

Asics always good value for money, comfort and don't fall apart after a month or two. Best buys are in their outlet stores where they will do the gait analysis too

My favourite shoes are great for me but might be totally inappropriate for you. Your best bet is to have a gait analysis, as suggested in this post about buying running shoes healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

Asics are very good, made a world of difference to me. Get a gait analysis if you can or go to asics website fora bit more info

Asics are brilliant, have always been able to just go out running straight away without the need to break them in. Also a huge bonus is they allow you 60 days to return them if you don't like them, even if you have run in them!

Go to sports shoes.com. Found their advice helpful re shape of foot and type of shoe you need, good start for running shoes plus prices are reasonable

I’ve got Adidas Bounce. Very comfortable and about £50.

Get yourself down to your nearest branch of Runners Need for a gait assessment (free) . They will then recommend a selection of shoes to meet your support requirements. It’ll be the best money you spend.

Definitely get a gait analysis. Otherwise you maybe setting yourself up for future injuries. I’ve done just that recently and got a great pair of Brooks Adrenaline GTS 18. One of the best pairs of running shoes you can get. Worth every penny! Hope this helps.

I got mine after a gait assessment at decathlon. My running shoes are spot on..

I rang decathlon here in Belfast but they said they don’t offer it anymore so I’ve rang dw sports and they do. So I’m going there today and hopefully I’ll get sorted! Learning curve 😁

Why half decent? What's wrong with 'perfect'? Remember, price and brands play no role in what will suit you best. See gait specialists and ask for advise.

I was a bit daunted to go to a proper runners shop lol but had my arm twisted and it was the best thing I could of done. Up and running our local were amazing. Gait analysis done and brilliant advice I couldn't have felt more comfortable. Result a pair of Brooks adrenaline with moderate support best pair of trainers I've ever had.

That’s exactly how I feel, because this is new to me. Hate not knowing what I’m talking about! I’ve rang dw sports and they offer gait analysis. So at least that’s step one ticked off. Now I’ll pay them a visit and find the outcome. Venturing into the unknown. Wish me luck. Thanks woollyoak 😊

I like karrimor running shoes. Each person is individual though.

I agree with others advising to get gait analysis done. End of W3 I was getting some knee and ankle pain, so thought it must be time to get some decent trainers and local shop was doing analysis. Couldn't believe it, I was going over (pronating) so much on my R foot! Shop let me try several different pairs of trainers that help with this I eventually went for New Balance ones. Best money have ever spent, the difference is so noticeable. No more knee/ankle pain :-)

Definitely get gait analysis. Went to a local independent shop and it was so useful to see what my feet were like when running in my old trainers. Although they are wide and comfy they offer no support for my collapsing feet! A good shop will not pressure you into buying either .

When you get running shoes, you don't choose the shoes, they choose you. I was in a sports shop for almost an hour while 2 people did a gait analysis and tried me with about 15 pairs of running shoes.... it came down to one pair in the entire shop which were right for my feet (a men's pair as well as I have wide feet!). It was a good job I liked them as I didn't end up with any choice at all..... but wow! What a difference they made to my running!!!

I would say they have to be comfortable and you need to try them. on with the socks you will be running in as they are generally thicker than regular socks.

're the advice of gait analysis, of course this is good advice, I have a different gait in either leg though. Asics work for me as they have a removable insole, so I can place my orthotic under that .
