Supporting your running

I’m on W7R3, just finished it, and looking at my MapMyRun stats I’m truly astounded at my progress. Not saying this to boast but to ask a serious question: at the same time as starting running I’ve also been training on spin bikes twice a week, and swimming 3 times. Is there evidence to support an idea that you are more likely to get good results doing this programme if you are also doing other stuff? I suspect this might be the case, but I’d be interested in seeing the evidence.

If you do more exercise rather than less you will get fitter, yes. WHat sort of evidence do you want to see?

I suspect there is also a correlation with increased motivation, gained from any exercise regime where previously there hasnt been any ( exercise), Im thinking the feel good factor of recognising it is possible, which creates added positive attitude, which results in doing better.

Yes, I hadn't considered the psychological aspect. Thank you!

Bodies/muscles are made to be used.

You are using yours, enjoying yourself, and seeing the results.

Very well done.👏👏

The NHS One You / HealthUnlocked promote many supporting exercise programmes and recommended levels of exercise, impact , cardio and strength, even by age bands.🙈😂 All come with fitness benefits.

You do spinning and swimming eg. and there are podcasts available for those also on NHS.

Laura promotes them.

Look in your mirror and there is your evidence.

Very well done and keep smiling.

Hope this helps, sorry no stats.

I didn't know there were other podcasts for different sports. Thank you!

Nor did I.🤔🙈

Just started using the C25k+ graduates podcasts by Laura and she informs you on there. There are 3 for running , Stepping stones, speed and stamina. Have not looked yet , but have no doubts they ( swimming and spinning ) will be available to download.Going to start using the spinning one sometime soon.🤔

As Razouski advises core strength and swimming.👍👏👏

Lots, lots more to build your legs and calves also.

Your buzzing, I can guess, but enjoy all your finishing 6 continuous runs to your podium. You are still building and it is a very special time.

When you graduate you must look at Rignolds 90 day BURPEE challenge.🤔

As you will know just loads of choice. So much, but just keep your own well established successful regime until you reach your C25k summit.

I looked at choices during my consolidation period.Honestly, for me, mind blowing.

I am so pleased for you and your modesty,be proud of your MapMyRun,stats., look forward to your posts.💫🏃‍♀️💫

The swimming will help with your core strength and that will help develop your running.
