W6 R1 It was a bit of a surprise and struggle today. I wasn’t expecting that after completing the 20min run. Anyone know why? Got there but seem to have lost my confidence.
Feels like W1 😐: W6 R1 It was a bit of a... - Couch to 5K
Feels like W1 😐
I don’t know why but I felt exactly the same. Sorry to tell you this but r2 was only slightly better!
I did run 3 today and managed it tho. I would love to understand too so will watch your post with interest ! You will don’t tho- if I can then you can. 👍💪
This run is a weird one by all accounts! It catches a lot of people out after the excitement of doing 20 minutes on the run before so don’t worry you you still did it 😀
Lots of people get over confident after the previous run and therefore find it harder than expected. Don’t worry.
Week 6 is tough. The interval runs catch you out if you aren’t careful. Best advice I had was to take it slowly.
That's my next one. I've seen on here that a lot of people say the same thing so I'm going into it with no expectations & slow & steady.
I felt the same😰
Yeah, lots of people have said the same - think it’s to do with us sort of ignoring the walking breaks, when in fact they are tiring too - w6r1 is in fact a longer session overall than w5r3. I found it OK personally, but that may because I had read all those posts and was expecting the worst!
Week 6 Run 1 is your longest workout to date.
One swallow does not a summer make.
One twenty minute run does not a runner make.
You are doing great and this run is one that I warn people about, because it is so easy to approach it with an overconfidence carried over from W5R3. Unless you can brisk walk with no energy expenditure (when in fact the difference between a brisk walk and gentle jog is negligible) then this workout will stretch you and prepare you for what is coming.
