Week 6 run 3 ✅ but..

Well today completed week 6 👍🏻🙏🏻 I’m pleased I haven’t stopped in the six weeks and I’ve kept going but think I’m hard on myself in regards to how I view progress. I sneaked a peek and can see from now on it’s just straight runs and no breaks but I worry I’m a plodder and not running fast enough and so covering the ground I should be. Think sometimes if I slowed down anymore I would be going backwards!!

So distance wise at the moment between walking and running covering about 4 to4.5k but not sure what is a good distance.. my husband is great and keeps trying to reassure me that six weeks ago I couldn’t do 90 seconds which is true but I seem to be my own worst critic at the moment 🙄

Well Done on completing Week 6!

Listen to your husband (he's right!) and try not to worry about how far/fast you're going - the app is slightly misnamed - you are only required to run for 30 mins non-stop to Graduate. Think I read on here somewhere that 90% of people don't make the 5k in 30 minutes at the time of Graduation. No need to push for speed yet just keep building stamina through the longer runs x

Thank you for the advice. It’s strange as six weeks ago I would have been over the moon with starting week 7 but think I’m expecting too much now. Need to concentrate on the here and now and just enjoy 😉 x

Great attitude! You're covering a good amount of ground so you're definitely not running super slow.

I'm training to run a particular distance in a partlicular time and at the beginning was a bit obsessed with it! Once I decided to just complete the programme I've enjoyed it much more. There'll be plenty of time when we Graduate to get faster :-)

Well I'm only week one and am only covering about 2.5k so that sounds fab to me! Do you know how many you were covering at the start? I'm sure you've massively improved!

Hi 👋🏻 I just checked and I was doing 2.5k too so well done. It’s so strange as could never have imagined doing this a few months ago but it’s so worth it and the process does with. Plus I am slightly in love with MJ’s voice 😉. Good luck and keep up the good work 👍🏻👍🏻 X

Your distance sounds great! Not many people reach 5k in 30 mins by the end of the 9w but it sounds like you’re going to be there or thereabouts. Don’t stress about it though. Loads more go on to do it by continuing beyond the plan if that’s your goal. Good luck with the rest of the plan!

Thank you 😊 I have to push on as the end game is a half marathon in October. Know I may have to walk part of it but determined to give it a shot!!

Sounds like you’re going to do whatever you set out to do! Good luck with the plan and the half marathon!

Your husband is right (don’t tell him though!)

I average about 3.5k and I’m on week 7. Speed will come later so don’t think about it, just do those runs, most people don’t cover 5k in 30mins by week 9.

I won’t say a word 😉 in fairness he is my rock and keeps me going even though I feel he could walk quicker than I run! Well done you 👍🏻

Your distance is good! I've just finished week 6 and am not reaching 4km yet. So you're not slow! I'm slow and will stay slow until I can run for 30 minutes. Then I'm going to build up to 5k. Slowly! Someone on here told me that slow is the new fast! I say that a lot now!!
