It was an uphill battle today, literally, I threw caution to the wind and shuffled up the big hill. I managed to restrain myself on the downhill bit as I have come a cropper there before (shin splints). I put Strava on today but as I do a ten minute warm up walk I have no idea what it really means. I will wait for someone to get up and explain it! My daughter suggested I use it to see if I am getting further, I thought it was a good idea to use it so they can find my body........ not today though!

Wk8R3 done!
Well done you. I have several steep but small hills in my area that I organise most of my runs to avoid.
Do you find doing a longer warm up walk makes the run easier?
It does for me and saves me from the knee pain I was experiencing the last time I did C25k, 4 yrs ago. I stretch more afterwards too. I started with a few niggles this morning but all resolved as I ran (very slowly) and forced myself to turn right instead of left. I decided that I have to do the natural circular route if I am going to improve, it is also my local Parkrun route but I start at the bottom of the hill instead of the top. When I pluck up the courage to do Parkrun I will have to finish at the top. I have spent 8 weeks avoiding all upward inclines which meant crossing roads, or zig-zagging all over the place. I actually feel calmer about W9 now I have knocked the hill fear on the head, I really can do this!
