Cramp!
Are you adequately hydrated?
Can be down to a lack of salt too. So either a sports drink or the (never fail) packet of Cheese and Onion crisps. ("The only eating disorder I have is occasionally missing my mouth.")
in the imediate short term, when it happens, take a sip of the juice from a jar of pickled gherkins (kosher pickles are best).
This sounds odd but it works like a miracle. I used to take a little botle on ultra distance obstacle races and it worked so well on me and others I administered it to, it earned me the name Dr Pickle.
You can google this if you want. I'm not making it up.
I believe in the lack of salt thing, and the evening before a run I take a tiny bit of salt with dinner. However, my daughter kindly passed on a tip about a pressure point, told to her by a physio. Press your finger and hold it there for a little while in between your upper lip and nose in between your nostrils. It doesn’t work for everyone, but it’s free and there’s nothing to carry. It does luckily work for me.
The salt thing would probably be it as I only have salt thats in the foid i will try and add a little salt to evening meal.
I'm hydrated that's the one thing I do do religiously and I sip water as I am running.
Thankyou all for your tips
