I am still trying to lose weight after having lost 3 stone and I still would like to lose a bit more. I have stayed the same weight (week 6) but a friend who is a sports physio explained to me recently that I will be building muscle, in the long term that will impact on my metabolism so she said keep going and soon I will see the benefits.

I am on Week 5 just completed run 2 and have not lost any weight whatsoever. But I must admit I am toning up and my 15 year old said I looked like I had lost weight. Main thing am not gaining so I think of it as maintain and tone 😁😁

I’m the same. Measure yourself as you may have toned and lost inches. I’ve lost an inch from my bum and thighs which makes by belly look bigger. Ha ha! But gained 4lbs like you. Muscle weighs more than fat. Remember your are healthier now.

Don't worry it's not just you! It's unlikely that the extra weight is muscle as it is very difficult for women to gain significant amounts of muscle in a short period of time - not enough testosterone!

However, using your muscles causes tiny tears in them which then retain water which means you weigh more. It's perfectly normal and you are building strength.

Another important thing to remember for us ladies is how your monthly cycle affects your weight. I can literally gain 3lbs the week before my period (some people gain a lot more).

All sorts of other things can affect the weight the scale shows, that's why a lot of people go by measurements.

Good Luck x

Unfortunately that is one reason I can no longer use 😁

Haha! Lucky you :-)

If you don't mind me asking what method are you using to lose? Are you doing a plan like Slimming World/Weight Watchers, calorie counting or just watching what you eat? x

I'm trying to watch what I'm eating but not very successfully at the moment 😁😁

4lbs isn't a massive gain so don't worry about that.

Exercise makes you hungrier as well and it's important to fuel your body otherwise you just won't have the energy to run!

Weight loss is really just down to burning more calories than you eat - 3500 calories equates to a 1lb weight loss.

There are lots of ways to do this - I count calories but my sister had very successful weight loss with Slimming World as she couldn't get on with calorie counting. An adult pupil of mine has lost loads (I would say 4-5 stone) on a high fat, low carb diet. You just need to find something that suits you.

Like running slow and steady is the way to go. Lots of people go on stupidly low calorie diets and just crash and burn! A diet shouldn't be overly restrictive as it's a way of eating that will need to continue in order to keep the weight off.

You've got me on one of my specialist subjects - didn't mean to write that much :-)

Hope it's useful in some way x
