Well done on starting!
I'm no expert, but when I started I got sore shins as well, and to avoid it, I slowed down a little, focused on landing softly on my feet and ran on dirt instead of asphalt.
Maybe you can try doing some of that as well? Just to see if it helps?

Thanks I'm 48 and have never been a runner did a lot of cycling but virtually zero exercise for the last 20 years or so
