I'm so upset because I really was enjoying this. I only completed week 1 but I felt myself become fitter, and I actually enjoyed the second and third run.
My knee issues have ruined it. I damaged my knee years ago and it never really healed properly. I think I damaged the cartilage or something. The first time I was in a foreign country and they just said to rest the leg, and I went home after a week. The second time I reinjured it by throwing a frisbee (lol) and saw a physiotherapist who gave me some excercises to dot. But thanks to my laziness in not doing the excercises, my knee never really recovered.
It never really mattered though as I never excercised. However after doing these jogs my knee has gotten bad again. I can't straighten it and it hurts to walk on. I'm so disappointed. This isn't even making excuses, I know when I'm doing that, I really would be going out for the runs if my knee wasn't damaged. If I can't even walk without pain it would be stupid to try the couch to 5k runs. I don't want to make my knee worse.
I don't know what to do 😭😭😭 sorry for this depressing rant

Really sorry to hear how disappointed you are 😔I feel your frustration. How about swimming for a while, much more gentle & another referral for physio? Don't give up on those knees, you may be able to build up strength again? Nordic walking is fab for knees & all over body work out without the stress on joints when you feel better. Just a thought or two......
Swimming is a good idea and this Nordic walking sounds interesting. It was just a lot easier to go outside and run than it is to go get to a swimming pool you know 🙁 I will try and get the motivation
Hey, I tore the MCL in my knee and couldn’t walk for 9 months. I finally had physio and did my stretches and within 6 weeks I was better and 12 weeks totally cured. Now I’m doing C25K (and I’m certainly not the running type)...
I don’t think it matters when you get the physio, but it sounds like you should (& stick to it:-). By mid summer you could possibly be back running and confident it will be okay.
Hope this is something that can be healed and you get back in the programme.
I agree with going to physio but also maybe invest in some running trainers if you havent already, and get someone to check your running/geight out as it could be how your planting your foot. I myself used to have trouble with my knee, so im off to do a treadmill test at a running shop to get me some new trainers with my specially designed insoles :). Good luck and i hope you can be running again sometime in the future
Don't give up on the idea. See what the advice is from Drs and physio, follow that, keep it up, and if possible start this again. The programme will be here waiting for you.
Maybe keep reading and posting, to motivate you regarding physio exercise 🤗
Oh, that's a bummer! do some low impact excercise as already mentioned, of course when it gets better, and try some gentle strengthening excercise as well, my knees aren't great, glucosamine supplement seems to help keep the pain down, so able to keep running comfortably..
Don’t get too down hearted. My knee was truly awful ... hobbling and crying like a beast. Saw a chiropractor. Problem is not my knee but the muscles from my hip to my knee. I wear a knee support and use a foam roller and followed his advice to keep moving after a run. Have a rest and go for a gentle walk. 4 weeks on I’m pain free and much more mobile. I think the gentle walk is the best. I went to bed after a late run last week and had pain which woke me up. Keep smiling and walking and swimming xx
I feel your pain (quite literally!) I've had to *pause* the programme due to knee problems. I'd really recommend seeing a physio for an assessment & exercises.
I was gutted too - had only really started but was loving my new found motivation. I'm continuing with 3x a week cross-training/exercise bike to stay in the routine & improve overall fitness & motivation. Maybe you could try that once you've rested & had the all clear?
Don't despair, we'll get back to it in our own time 🤗
Find an excellent one to one Pilates teacher to help you build up the strength around your damaged knees. It worked for me. It has also strengthened all over my body.
