I have been exercising since Christmas with you tube fitness videos in my living room. I feel much better and my knees have improved. Some of the videos take you through 5k and 10k races so I thought I would try a parkrun last week. I wasn't ready. I found running outside so different to running round the living room. I was amazed how quickly everyone ran! I was at the back walking and jogging and dnf at 3.5k. A little girl sitting on a park bench with her dad said as I was going past... "Some of these people are too fat to run!". Is all this going to stop me? No way. I'm amazed I had the incentive to get outside with other people. I can feel the difference running is making to my confidence... I'm losing weight so that little girl won't recognise me next time. I am also following this running plan to make sure I get round next time when I try the 5k again! I've decided to start on week 4 as I can manage to jog 5 mins at a time. This is my first post though. Hello everybody and hello everyone at Aberystwyth park run who were all lovely and friendly and helpful. I will be back when I'm ready!
Humiliation: I have been exercising since... - Couch to 5K

Well done for taking the big step outdoors! At least you tried and that’s spurred you on which is great! Keep up the motivation.
You are not the first to try to learn to run in their living room, but there is no substitute for the great outdoors and a good training plan.
Please read the guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5... for loads of tips.
Next time at parkrun just stick to the C25K programme and walk the remainder.
Slow an steady will get you there and we can support you all the way.
Enjoy your journey.
GOOD FOR YOU!!! - please don't get discouraged . And please remember that you have only just started the rest of your life.
Come outside- it's lovely Follow the plan and you will soon be running parkruns each week.
Gosh, I think you did tremendously well running 3.5K after running in your living room! You must have a very strong mental attitude which will stand you in great stead in the future.
