So I’m delighted with myself for managing to achieve this today. Genuinely thought I was never ever going to run for 5 minutes - never mind after running for 3 minutes with a 90 second walking break! I was exhausted though - I really struggled and I’m worrying about how on Earth I will ever manage any of the week 5 runs.
I’ve also got some concerns over the fact that I’ve been doing this on the treadmill and I’ve read that it’s nothing like doing it in the real world 😂 I’d love to do a 5k when I’ve completed the programme but I’m worried that all the hard work I’ve done on the treadmill just won’t have prepared me for running outside and now I wonder whether I should go back to the start and start again outside?
Sorry for the ramble but I hate being disappointed 😂

I am re-doing Couch again after an illness. I did the first run of Week 5 today - and I had the same feelings on Week 4 - it just did not seem possible to get through it. But I did, as did you. This is the third time I have done Couch and each time Week 5 seems a step too far, but in fact you WILL get through it. As to treadmill, the last time I completed it I did it all on the treadmill. This time I am doing much more outside on the road and the reason you found running outside so hard could be because you are actually running much faster. On the treadmill I find that you control the speed and run at a pace comfortable to you.
Outside I find I run much quicker, even though it is not deliberate, and get more tired - but STILL manage to complete, as you will.
Go out now if you fancy it... different and maybe not as easy, but terrific fun... just go slow and steady and carry on from where you are
You have little control over the weather or seasons..but, you can choose your route and surface... just take a jogette out and see
I’m doing c25k for the second time. First time my knees were a bit dodgy so I did it all on the treadmill then post graduation moved outside, started with 20 minute runs then built up to 30 minutes, then 5k runs. This time I’m mixing it up. I like both depending on how I’m feeling
Hi, don't worry too much. I did all of C25k on my treadmill. If possible put it on an incline of 1 or 2. And keep the speed low, which will depend on your walking pace, eg a slow walk for me is around 4mph, fast walk is 4.5mph and so a slow jog/run is around 5.2mph. Whatever speed you simply can't walk at is classed as a run. Better to run slowly and build up your stamina. Then when you're happier you can try the real world. Keep smiling! ☺
