Different times for runs

Good morning all.

I currently go out very early - 6.30 ish. Mainly because I’m an early riser but to be truthful prob more that there are less people around to see me!

If I do the odd run in the evening will I find it harder , easier or the same?

Also is it easier to run round a field than pound the pavements?

Thanks everyone- have a brilliant day x

I do two of my weekly runs in the evening after work and one on a Saturday morning and I find the evening ones are easier. I’ve seen other people on here saying the opposite though so I’d just give it a go and see how you feel.

As far as time of day is concerned, we are all different and there are as many advocates of evening running as there are early risers. Just about everything in your life can affect your running, so whether it is easier or harder depends on how much you make your life fit around your running.

Running on grass greatly reduces impact on your joints, but is harder work, because of the softer surface absorbing more energy.

Have you read the guide to the plan? healthunlocked.com/couchto5... It is full of tips.

Hiya,

Last year when I started this programme I ran mostly in the morning and on grass at my local playing field. Just like you, I think I did that because I wanted less people to see me but as time went by and I became more confident, I couldn't give 2 hoots about who saw me.

Around the middle of week 7 though I decided to go running around 9pm one night on the road and I absolutely loved it.

So either morning or night for me. I must say though that being on the grass over the playing field is my preference though. Maybe because I am over weight and know that running on grass is a little more forgiving on my knees rather than running on the pavement.

Running on the pavement however did feel easier to me though.

All you can do is give it a go when you're ready and see that suits you best.

Goodluck.

I started running on grass as I thought I would never be able to run on the pavements/roads

Somewhere along the way I started to run on pavement and found it ok

Must be something to do with these all singing all dancing trainers
