No matter how much you exercise u only lose weight if I reduce calories. I’ve been dieting for it seems like 50 years and that is all that ever works. Starting to run will make u want to eat better. Do it!!! Cut the calories.

10kg but that was also with a low carb diet.

Not yet, but my body shape has definitely changed. I’m on week 8. I’ve lost cm from my stomach and hips so I feel better too. Going to start watching my calories now though as do need to shed about 3stones... 😫

I didn't lose weight. I started to feel much, much fitter and began to worry less about what I ate - consequently I gradually put on weight!!! Ironically, almost a year since starting c25k I have finally found the motivation to lose weight - I want to run injury free and losing weight will help!

12kg down - running has been the motivation rather than the means.

Welcome! Check this post out :)

This is not a weigh loss programme and you may or may not lose weight...but linked with a healthy eating regime, you will feel fitter and stronger:) I lost weight and then put weight back on :)

Well done for your first run... keep it slow and keep it steady.. and stretch after every run.

Can you recommend what stretches we should be doing at the end. I thought we just had to warm down with the 5 minute walk.. thanks.. I am new to all this and about to do Run 2 of Week 2 tonight!!

I am in W4 of the programme (it's taken me 7 weeks to get here) and have lost 5lbs. I think for me part of it is that when I've exercised I feel like eating healthier, and that I'm not eating when I'm out there doing it!

Weight loss happens when calories burned are greater than calories consumed. This programme definitely does burn calories, mind you not a heck of a lot. So, if you kept eating about the same as you did prior to starting, you might expect to lose a pound every 3-4 week (depending on several things). If you're able to combine the programme with some strengthening (muscle building) exercise and eating a bit more mindfully, it could for sure increase the weight loss. Muscle requires more energy to maintain than fat, so building it helps to increase your metabolism. Muscle building doesn't need to be pumping iron in the gym. Body weight exercise at home or even yoga can accomplish it. I can't say enough about how much I'm enjoying the combination of c25k and yoga - I do yoga on non-running days and it's great for a deep stretch, building flexibility, appreciating my body, working on my breath, building muscle and balance and relaxing. I do videos in my living room using the Yoga with Adriene channel on youtube.

One of the main benefits I'm finding of c25k is feeling a sense of accomplishment at what I'm able to physically do and putting my mind to something and sticking with it. My confidence is way up, beyond the meager 5lbs lost could do.

The reason I asked is because I’m quite slim, eat well and don’t want to lose weight, just want to get healthier my Cardios not great

Thanks all you’ve helped a lot

I too do Yoga what helps me a lot and combined with running, I think it will be good

Only because doing slimming world too. Don’t think you’d lose weight doing C25k alone.
